Guest guest
Sat Nam! I appreciate the warnings... I do. I have read the indications of Kundalini rising and some of the side effects. I definitely believe I have felt it rise during the kriyas on many occasions before and now nearly every time I practice. It never has reached my crown chakra, but has only gone as far as the heart chakra. My question is... if it is to be managed so... and we can't manage it on our own, then why would responsible gurus like Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa and Guru Rattana amongst others provide ways for someone to practice without a guru at home, and even encourage it? They studied directly with Yogi Bhajan. If there was anything to fear, they would know about it. Yogi Bhajan himself said KY is for the householder. If it is something that can only be managed/directed with the help of an in person guru then why would he even suggest a householder or the average joe/jane take it up? I do believe that there can be problems with kundalini energy rising spontaneously or someone causing it to rise in ways other than KY. But, it seems like KY is a safe spiritual journey. If not, why would we want anyone to do it? Is it not about meeting our full potential as human beings. I know I do not know enough about it at this point to make assumptions, but I have to say that we are supernatural beings anyway, in a human body for a time. It is just coming to the realization of all we are capable of... is it not? I'm not trying to be difficult. I'm just trying to understand. I have been healed in many ways, found a closer relationship to God, and am finding my path in life through my practice. I have seen nothing but positive. If there is a negative (don't get me wrong... my moods have highs and lows, I have experienced some difficulty as part of healing) that will impair my life as a wife and mother, I might not want to practice anymore. I will not stop my practice. I can't believe that. There would be plenty of Gurus that I trust the teachings of who would be doing an irresponsible thing by encouraging one to practice KY in whatever their circumstance or place of residence. I can't believe Yogi Bhajan would have introduced it to us to bring up teachers had there been a component of danger. I do understand caution and I do understand needing to understand what it is you are doing to the best of your ability. What then about the inner guru? I believe that I am very far from an actual awakening. Very far. Thank you and be blessed, Kelli
Guest guest
Kelli.....I love your questions.....they are smart and sincere...and I don't think you are far from " awakened " at all. It seems to me you have already done that in your own way. And you have figured out that this is about " self reliance " ..... as a mother you have to rely on your own intuition all the time for what is right and wrong. It is right to also understand that no teacher has all the answers as to how to do this. It is a very individual trip. To be in your heart chakra is plenty for now. Kundalini is your own highest intelligence. To open the crown is probably not in your best interest right now. One has to have the right timing for that...and the time to integrate...you can get very spacey for awhile when taking this step. As a young mother you have other responsibilities...that are just as spiritual. And opening the crown is not the super prize goal of all this. It will happen when you can use it. Chakras are not hierarchical...the first is just as spiritual as the 7th...and so on. As to your question on how to keep the experience longer... others have said in here that the practice was also to include going to gadwara..and morning sadhna. But you are on a Christian path...so it is going to be different for you. I think what the other people here are trying to say is that this is not just about " experiences " ...all this is about service. It just helps you serve better. In the path of Christ service is very important also. And daily sahdna is the root of all this. But it all works together. Sahdna is a daily remembrance of your connection with the Universe..and all possibilities...the kryias keep your health in reasonable shape and your aura clean from the negative vibes that our society can dish out...and then service is the completion. Anything you gain...you must give back out...and this is how the Flow is kept going. That is how the experience last longer...by giving it out to others...but do it in your own Christian way.......It all works together like this.........
