Hello all,I am wondering if there is any info on finding a romantic relationship, as well as finding good friends/best friend.I know of some Sanskrit mantras for finding a husband and for friendship. I am wondering if there are any kriyas or mantras in KY.

As well, if one is having difficulty in finding a husband/wife, is this just a karmic situation or is this maybe influenced by their chakras?I don't know if someone mentioned this but would having a strong radiant body attract the right people into your life?

I am still practicing the gan pattee and am doing my first 40 day discipline of the reverse adi shakti which is for self love. I would think working on loving yourself and building your self esteem and confidence would help one to make better decisions in friendships, as well as helping you to set personal boundaries and learn self respect - which are important to having friends and being in a relationship. I had one friend say she spent time focusing on getting herself together and loving herself and finding someone came organically.

I think as well the gan pattee is an all purpose type kriya so I would think that would be useful for dealing with blocks.Where does the navel centre fit into all this? I was practising a video by ravi and ana and they mentioned how having a strong navel centre helps all the other chakras transform. How is the 3rd chakra going to help in romantic relationships/friendships?

I would think as well, doing any sort of meditation to develop neutral mind would help because then that keeps your intuition clear.ThanksPaula

In response to your question I will offer this as I hope it answers your

question. I think people are looking for things too specific when they look for

mantras and kriyas. Perhaps there is one recommended for very specific

conditions, however my belief is that if yogis focused more on their own

happiness they would find a lot of their answers in keeping their own ten bodies

in balance and other things would take care of themselves.

My suggestion is to find a Kriya that is for yourself, such as on the DVD Add

Grace and Prosperity with Kundalini Yoga with Nirvair Singh Khalsa. It has the

Ganapati (pronounced gun a putty) kriya and exercises that not only are great

but many are also used for ridding depression. Seem coincidence to me that peace

and prosperity go hand in hand like lovers.

The point I am hoping to make is if you work on yourself the rest come naturally

as when people stop looking for a mate the tell stories how they suddenly bumped

into them and were married for the past 15 years. We keep looking outside

ourselves and forget to honor the wisdom within. I am only suggesting you

consider if you have done this (perhaps you have) before you search too far from

what would really complete you. Perhaps searching for your own mantra and using

it will bring everything else.

Hi Paula,

In my empirical experience, people with a strong radiant body are never at a

loss for lovers. Attracting the 'right' one, however, is something else again.

According to Guruchander Singh in his book, " Tantric Numerology " the key is

really the NEGATIVE mind. He states many people rely too heavily on intuition

and not the input of the negative mind.

An example is the woman who thinks she found " Mr. Right. " He sweeps her off her

feet and she digs his ambiance and is basking in his light so doesn't check out

the facts about him.

Eventually, she finds out he's got 3 other women and she's number 4. Or, he has

a history of domestic assault in another state, etc.

When your second body is working well, you will always ask yourself:

" Is he really as he seems? " " How do I protect myself if this relationship

should go South? " (according to the book). Remember God is perfect, humankind is

not.

Hope this didn't throw a wet blanket on your search. Feel free to e-mail me

off-line about the topic as there's lots more to it than this.

Peace,

entitled "Soul Mate"

from January 15, 1989

Sikh Dharma International invites you to sit and meditate with the Siri

Singh Sahib for a moment.

In the lecture, "Soul Mate," from the "Light of the Shabad Guru"

series, the Siri Singh Sahib discusses loneliness and the longing to

mate. He explains that this deep and natural urge originates in the

soul, who feels lonely for God. The Soul sends the message to the

mind, "Take me to my True Love." If the mind is not tuned to the soul,

it will send maya: sex, drugs, negative patterns. "Do you want to

satisfy your longing with maya? Or, do you want to satisfy your soul

with the Guru's Shabad?"

Sat nam,

As for your question of how the third chakra comes into play in relationships:

Balancing the third chakra (navel) seems to help with everything. This is where

the energies of your upper chakras and lower chakras meet. A person with a

balanced thrid chakra draws their energy from the Earth through their lower

chakras, and from the cosmos with their higher chakras. That's power! Thus,

this person would not experience the power struggles nor the giving away of

power that people who are out of balance experience. In fact, human power

struggles do not pull this individual in because when the third chakra is

balanced, one feels at One, and so there is no Other, nothing to dominate or

avoid domination from. A person can be his or herself. And that helps with

relationships. Also, when the third chakra is balanced, a person is very good

at creating what she/he needs, and at staying committed to whatever he/she

chooses. The balanced third chakra can really propel a person forward in life

and in their goals.

Hello all,I got all of these responses at once, so I'll respond to them all at once!Sujan: thanks for the mantra. I'll keep it in mindDavid: " however my belief is that if yogis focused more on their own happiness

they would find a lot of their answers in keeping their own ten bodies

in balance and other things would take care of themselves....

My suggestion is to find a Kriya that is for yourself, such as on the

they suddenly bumped into them and were married for the past 15 years.

We keep looking outside ourselves and forget to honor the wisdom

within. " I agree. I am currently using the ganapati and have done several 40 day disciplines with it. I am trying to focus on my own happiness. I know intellectually to 'look within', but gee sometimes I just think that's not the problem, maybe because it's easier to be distracted.

Anyways, while I agree in letting things happen naturally, we do have to be proactive. We can't spend our lives complaining we can't find someone and yet we don't make efforts to date and put ourselves out there! For now I am taking a break from dating. Men just aren't making much sense to me, so I'm just withdrawing and regrouping and doing this 'looking within stuff'. I just want to get it over and done with, perhaps that's just part of being a capricorn for me, I can be very task oriented when necessary. I feel I've done alot of work already so it makes me wonder why. Am I that dysfunctional? I'm still in the middle of things so I don't really have much perspective on what's been going on with me but it's really a matter of time.

Dharam:I think I am on track. I think I doubt myself and always wonder if I'm doing enough in my practice. I need more reassurance. I'm not learning in a formal class structure and am learning from books, dvds and doing 40 day disciplines for certain kriyas. I think because I doubt myself, it makes me wonder what is wrong with me, so that I can fix it. Maybe I just need to relax and things will bear fruit?

Patience is not my forte!I guess maybe if I attended a class once and while and get reassurance from that and talked to real people (in person as opposed to an email group). I just like practicing at home better though.

Bridget:thanks for your comments. I have read that the 3rd is good for helping all the others. I would think that working on that would improve relationships, although when I was learning about that chakra, I didn't initially think it could apply to relationships but personal power is a broad concept.

Jackie;I think this girl where I work has a strong radiant body but as you mention, it doesn't help you to discern the right people. I am trying to find more info on the 10 bodies, specifically the radiant body.

Anyways, those are my thoughts and comments/questionsLooking forward to Christmas as we'll be getting a long weekend!thanksPaula

Greetings,

I just wanted to introduce myself to the group and respond to David's reply. I only joined a couple days ago. I'm excited about the wealth of knowledge I hope to gain from this group, mostly, because I am a vocalist and have recently been moved by Spirit to start learning and singing mantras specifically for self and hopefully to inspire healing in others...

So thanks David for sharing..."not searching outside of self", is always a hard pill to swallow, but so true...

Be encouraged...

Angela

Sat nam yogis,

I have a question, that's not supposed to be cheeky, because it's authentic, but

it may sound cheeky.

Is all the mantra scripture designed in accordance with misogynist spiritual

lens of the universe? Is the mantra literature written with a male-centric view

of the Universe - I.E. that infinity is male, or is it the careful translation

to English?

I love the mantras, I love how they work, I love the blissful balance I feel

after practicing Kundalini meditation, but I also feel placed in a ridiculous

situation when I read some of the translations because in my own, personally

personal personable heart infinity has no gender, and I find it is often

creation stories that provide gender through a cultural lens, or a Christo-Judao

lens is the background of the translator. In my worldview there is no

omnipresent capital L lord, and it's difficult, unsettling, and in fact

unrealistic for me to interpret the mantras in this way.

I recognize that gender issues are surface in relation to the effectiveness of

the mantras, and acknowledge that my emotions are my own responsibility;

however, I'm still curious about the attachment the translations have to gender

- is it from the source material or the lack of gender neutral words in English?

For example, I feel like I'm reading part of The Bible rather than reading a

translation of eastern meditations in the soul-mate mantra: " The time of

rejoicing has come; I sing of my Lord God. I have heard of my Imperishable

Husband Lord, and happiness fills my mind. My mind is in love with Him; when

shall I realize my great good fortune,

and meet with my Perfect Husband?

I apologize for the offensive ripple that may wave through those of you with a

Christian/Jewish background, and if you're offended by me lumping ya'll

together, and further to those who may have translated this piece with hearts

filled with bliss and love and connection to the spiritual support available to

anyone who wishes to venture in this direction. I pose this question as a

selfish attempt to authentically connect with the language of the mantras, and

to intellectually develop my own language to support my practice - outside of

the misogynist spiritual view of life and the universe.

If in fact the translations hold true, and this is the language which supports

my spirit and cleanses my subconscious, then all I can do is express is my

gratitude for the ancestors who practiced this holy exercise in the spirit of

bliss and elevation, and trust that my journey is supported even in the lens of

misogyny, and trust that the spirit of the practice is not lost in translation.

Thank you for your patience in reviewing this post,

With much love and respect, April/Amarbir Kaur

Sat Nam,

" So Purkh. That Primal God, " cd recited by Nirinjan Kaur Khalsa. The back cover

states; " This bani, So Purkh, creates a sacred space in which grace prevails so

as to allow the greatness of the soul to come forth. It was written by Guru Ram

Das, whose vibration exists holding a state of grace and love that heals all

realms of the heart and being. The Siri Singh Sahib, Yogi Bhajan, taught that

if a woman recites this bani eleven times a day for any man, it has the power to

make him a saint, and dissolve any negativity between them. He would often give

this as a sadhana to women for the men in their lives. So Purkh is part of

Rehiraas, the evening prayer of the sikhs. "

I heard this from one of my kundalini yoga teachers at KYTT. And she said it

worked for her daughter! Check it out.

peace & love to all,

Kudrat Kaur
