Guest guest
Thanks for giving this crisis a voice, of some kind, on his forum. The purpose of yoga is to create and be in such a place of balance, and dare I say perfection, in our personal needs, that we can sacrifice and be of service to others. I was just reading another yoga teacher's words on the situation. http://www.annadunwell.com/Site/HAITI.html Anna speaks of "Doctors without Borders" as being another good place to put one's trust. Also, if anyone has an American Express, use it! as they are waving the 3% that credit card companies always charge. The others may follow suit. As you may know, for almost four years I spent a tremendous amount of time in Haiti developing a number of projects that we were trying to get off the ground with both the government and private sector. I fell in love with the country and its people, who have an amazing spirit. Like so many others, we have a lot of friends/family we can’t find. On a good day, Port-au-Prince is ill-equipped to function properly, so what’s happened is beyond comprehension. Haitians are the strongest, most patriotic, united people I’ve ever met, so I believe they will come through this, but the loss and suffering is too painful to imagine. I just heard from someone that returned from Haiti today that what we’re seeing and hearing doesn’t scratch the surface for what’s going on. There are many ways to donate through legitimate major organizations like the Red Cross, World Food Program, Doctors Without Borders, Food for the Poor, etc. People often want to donate to smaller organizations but don’t know which are the right ones. Needless to say anywhere you make a donation will help, but I’ve chosen to donate to the Lambi Fund, an organization that I’ve worked with, that’s on the ground in Haiti doing fantastic work, and that I totally trust. Lambi Fund is not a first responder, but a second responder which means that they’ll be there long after the relief service providers leave, working to rebuild Haiti. Their first step will be to help members of peasant groups get food and essentials for their families to re-establish their lives. Please visit www.lambifund.org for more information or to make a donation. Remember to be grateful for everything we take for granted. PLEASE PASS THIS ALONG TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW AND DONATE TODAY. Thanking you in advance for your support and prayers. Guest guest
I believe Gosikh.com is donating 100% of their proceeds from sales to Red Cross at this time. That means.. You buy a $15 turban material, all $15 dollars goes to Red Cross. http://www.gosikh.com/Haiti.htm -- As quoted via email -- " For some reason, I am preoccupied with the earthquake in Haiti. I have no relations with the country of Haiti, don't know anyone from that country and yet I feel like doing everything I can to help. I could not think of anything better than this. If you need a Turban or were planning to buy one in the near future, please buy in the next day or two. If you buy a Turban for $15 + shipping, I will donate the $15 (100%) to relief organizations helping Haitians. So far, I have donated to Mercyships and Red Cross. If you were planning to buy a Turban in either case, or anything else on the site, please do shop and [i will] send all the proceeds to the relief fund. http://www.gosikh.com/Haiti.htm Please also add a small prayer for those that were impacted in Haiti and for all around the world that continue to suffer.
