Guest guest
Sat Nam yogis, Does anyone know the secret to getting old oil out of fabric? My favorite all-cotton bath towel is so saturated with pre-cold shower massage oil that it barely absorbs any water. Normally when this happens I toss them out, but this towel is part of an appliqued African animal set, with a palm tree and lion on the edge of the bath towel, a giraffe on the hand towel and a monkey on the wash cloth. Regular washing on warm does not help much, possibly since the towel has been repeatedly baked in the dryer. I will be very grateful to hear some success stories, whatever it takes! Guest guest
Sat Nam Guru Prem, I would suggest: Use hot water for both wash and rinse cycles if possible. Be sure to set the timer so it does not go through the whole cycle on hot and then cold water. Use soft water if possible. Put something like Borax in if you do not have soft water. Use half again as much detergent as you usually use. Tide is the best for getting most stuff out. I read that Land's End uses that on their products. Oxiclean is also a good addition. Guest guest
Good advice Guru Bandhu, Read instructions on Arm & Hammer Borax box. You might want to soak. That should work. Oil residue can be more serious than you can imagine. A friend of mine who does massage and uses oil in her work, had a stack of *freshly laundered* towels and sheets spontaneously combust, taking her nearly new Subaru with it! If Borax doesn't get things right you can spike your laundry soap a bit more with some Sodium Hydroxide (aka Lye). A 1-3% kick will do the trick ) Dharam http://www.gongsongs.com greatyoga wrote: Sat Nam Guru Prem, I would suggest: Use hot water for both wash and rinse cycles if possible. Guest guest
I am a massage therapist and I have heard of LMTs using Dawn, the dish detergent tha " cuts grease " , to get oil out of their massage linens. Good luck.
