Guest guest
Sat Nam. Update on the progress of Wikipedia updates to " Kundalini yoga " (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kundalini_yoga) and " Kundalini Yoga as Taught by Yogi Bhajan " (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kundalini_Yoga_as_Taught_by_Yogi_Bhajan) <-- new listing! By the way, over 20,000(!) people view this page " Kundalini Yoga " on Wikipedia each month on average. I have succeeded in making some positive changes and corrections to the Kundalini Yoga definition on Wiki, although having hindrance from a single user. Have succeeded specifically with additions of references and citations to the Sikh and Yogi Bhajan taught practices of KY in the body of the article. Although many changes in the body of the article have remained, descriptions and mentions of Sikhism have been deleted and revised back over a dozen times by a user " Atmapuri " in the heading paragraphs, specifically with his continual references to " potential dangers " , the single-minded view of KY as solely a Hindu practice, and his erasure of mention of Sikh based practice or of Yogi Bhajan. His view is limited, slanted, largely un-sourced and bigoted. This user has already been " caught " numerous times changing other Wiki references to Sikhs and Sikhism, or simply deleting them. His posting are often flagged for non-adherence to the rules of Wikipedia. To this end, I have reported him to the Admin Board for further action (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/Incidents#\ User:Atmapuri_Non-compromising_on_issue.2C_and_maintains_a_bigoted_view). He has consistently ignored other editor requests (including mine) to adhere to rules on numerous occasions. This will probably be ongoing, but we'll see what the Board decides. Good news is: An entirely new section on Wikipedia called (as we discussed): Kundalini Yoga as Taught by Yogi Bhajan has been created! It is the only Yoga form on Wikipedia that is linked with Sikhism! Congrats! PLEASE NOTE: It is in its INFANCY and will need more citations and references in many ways (But the pressure is off because we have started). Please note, my MAIN #1 GO-TO reference has been the body of the Joint Congressional Resolution honoring Yogi Bhajan after his death. This is a fantastic honorarium if you haven't seen it before, and it's also a one-of-a-kind 3rd party source legitimization of KYastbYB. (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d108:H.CON.RES.521:) I apologize for any mistakes, omissions, incorrect statements in this area. Am doing my best, and our team has just assembled. It is just a framework and beginning. It will be our first task to improve and expand this area. Your comments are welcome to be submitted to me personally by email, or you can simply track and make changes on the page yourself. If you want to improve the page, the most important thing you can do is research and track down legitimate references - specifically 3rd party references (anything written by Yogi Bhajan is a primary source, and generally not admitted for any new claims or as a legitimate reference). You are totally welcome to work on the page yourself! Nothing is stopping you. But if you want to coordinate with our group, we will be dividing up tasks shortly as I get the priorities identified. First Priority & How you can help: CALL FOR REFERENCES!: * Anyone who has a link to a Press article (Must be PRESS PUBLISHED ARTICLE, 3rd party source, but can be linked ONLINE. Doesn't matter the date - BLOGS & personal sites don't count) about the benefits of Kundalini Yoga, and specifically KYatbYB, please forward to my email. * Anyone who knows of 3rd party written books and sources about Benefits of KY, please forward your published sources (TITLE and AUTHOR, YEAR, plus pages if possible and quoted benefits). * Anyone who knows of SCIENTIFIC STUDIES, legitimate research of KY, and especially from 3rd party, relating to mental health benefits and physical benefits, mood benefits, etc. please forward. * We need a SIKH HISTORY buff who can cite and source history of Sikhism relating to the growth and practice of Yoga, Raja or Kundalini during the time of the Ten Gurus, and specifically anything referencing that Guru Gobind Singh had Sikhs learn sanskrit, read the vedic texts or Upanishads, and shared yoga openly. Citations for the Siri Guru Granth Sahib are welcome, but other 3rd party sources are needed. Someone with a copy of " The History Of Sikhism " who can look this up and paraphrase it is an ideal start. (Krishna Singh - if you can reference your sources, we'll like to have you help) * Pictures or photos that are non-copyrighted would be a welcome addition. * Anything refuting the notion that " Kundalini Syndrome " is a widespread and dangerous cause of harm to yoga practitioners would be very welcome. fatehsinghyoga That's all for now. Thank you and God Bless! Fateh Singh
Guest guest
Great work, Fateh! Check David Shannahoff-Khalsa's book Kundalini Yoga for scientific studies. Check my book - the once you cited - for all kinds of Kundalini Yoga-Sikh Dharma connections. Sat Nam. Blessings abounding...
