Guest guest
Yogi Bhajan was very clear; he came to create teachers - of Kundalini Yoga. I came to KY because of his teachings, not because of Yogi Bhajan the person. I continue teaching every day because I fully embrace, live within, and want to share Yogi Bhajan's legacy with everyone. In addition, I totally separate Kundalini Yoga from Sikh Dharma. Many of you will disagree with me. Yet when I am asked " Is Kundalini Yoga a religion? " I honestly answer " No; religion is an external form of worship, where Kundalini Yoga is a direct, internal experience of God. " Keeping Kundalini Yoga open and inclusive is important to spreading the teachings. When you wrap-up Kundalini Yoga within Sikh Dharma you create barriers. Yogi Bhajan bravely defied centuries of protocol to break apart the barriers to this technology. It is sadly ironic that many in the community endeavor to reestablish such barriers. I feel that this forum should be serving those who actively teach Kundalini Yoga, solely on issues related to teaching. All dharmic and political issues are better served in separate forums. -- Hari Dev Singh (Chicago)
Guest guest
My neighbour is Sikh, he is a great guy. Talking with him I mentioned that many Kundalini Yogers had adapted the Sikh lifestyle, to which he replied 'Thats just too keen'. I thought to myself, you just can't bloody win, and I am not even an adapted Sikher, only an ordinary Seek er. Guest guest
Thank you Hari Dev. You expressed my sentiments exactly. Wrapping Kundalini Yoga around Sikh Dharma brings in the aspect of religion, which does indeed create a barrier. Let's keep this forum for Kundalini Yoga. Blessings to all, Guru Prem Kaur (Kentucky) ************************************************************************************************You can get to center from any point on the circle
Guest guest
I do not see how you can possibly separate Kundalini Yoga from Sikh Dharma. It is not quite that simple. Kundalini Yoga is certainly not a religion, but there is no avoiding the fact that Yogi Bhajan has woven Sikh Dharma into it. There is no doubt about this. And what is Dharma but a way of life? There are many similarities between Sikh Dharma and Yogic Dharma - but they are not exactly the same. None of this represents a barrier to the teachings being open and inclusive. Guest guest
Hello all K Yogins & Yoginis, Kundalini-Yoga , " Catherine Skyrm " <cskyrm > > Thank you Hari Dev. I have found the religion, astrology & numerology aspects of K yoga world rather off-putting as I don't believe in them. However I am aware I may be wrong about that. All great spiritual traditions seem to get tangled up with something like religion or secret societies. I think we just have to accept this is the case. Whether their belief is right or mine I don't know but these aspects attract many people and they believe it strengthens their practice. It may also deflect them from the path too. > Let's keep this forum for Kundalini Yoga. I am happy to see the other stuff I don't believe in on the list. We are united in our use of kriyas and meditations. That unity is the core of the group. I respect much of the Sikh Dharma and am grateful for the exposure to it. I think it is possible to read into a lot of religious and spiritual teaching a gentle steering of people towards a realisation and acceptance that we don't need to make up explanations for things we don't understand and we can't judge or treat people on criteria that come from any source apart from the goodness we generate from ourselves. Philosophically I think I am a rational secular buddhist / yogi(n) who uses K yoga kriyas and meditations. Hopefully we can all get on. Keith. Guest guest
This forum is not for kundalini yoga or for Sikh Dharma, but rather for humanology as taught by Yogi Bhajan. If you read YB's lectures or books, you see he covered everything, so this forum is for everthing (thereby obviously including both the yoga and the dharma). With no rules, we get to jointly create the Yoga of Awareness YB unleashed by his decision to awaken the hippies. If this makes no sense, good. To reconstruct our existence for the Aquarian Age, we need to shake the boundaries we thus far have erected - as hierarchy - in the Piscean Age. Just post whatever you want, if inspired by your sadhana (daily practice), and the best posts will rise and the unhelpful ones will drift away. I'm doing my daily sat kriya, followed by stretch pose, yoga push ups and frogs: not sure what kind of ADD zombie I'd be without this daily commitment. Are you practicing every morning? Sat nam and blessings, Amar Atma
Guest guest
It is so encouraging to hear everyone's daily practices. I do not have time to practice in the morning, or I just don't have the ambition to get up any earlier, which is probably closer to the truth. But when I get home in the evenings I do at the least 30 mintues of Kundalini Yoga sets and than meditate. I repeat a mantra during the day all day as I work. I feel very privledged to have the knowledge of Kundalini Yoga and to have access to all of the teaching of YB and like minded people like this group.
