kriyas for severe blood loss/menopausal?

Sat Nam Dear KY Friends:

I have been bleeding non-stop for a month—I thought it was

“just†a very long period—and I still have not had a proper diagnosis (no

health insurance). Could be fibroids, could be the beginning menopause? But I

have lost so much blood! Now I feel anemic.

And my teeth are turning grey.

This is very scary. Are there any kriyas for anemia (or any advice on restoring

iron to body in an Ayurvedic way?)

Also, any thoughts on

the grey teeth?

I have been grinding my teeth severely for a year....but

that is another story. I could post a looong post about that journey.

I am just so worried, and find the advice and

loving-kindness of this group very reassuring.

Thanks, and many blessings

Upma Kaur

Please please see a gynecologist for this. Perhaps a nearby medical school with a teaching clinic? Perhaps call the local hospital and talk to someone in social services? You may have done these things already, but I'd just encourage you to work it out, somehow or other. Perhaps you can give a loving friend or family member the opportunity to give to you by letting them help you out.

In Ayurveda, the medical system with yoga, there is a concept that the vata element of any illness needs to be addressed first. Vata energy includes anxiety and fear, and the fear here must be addressed by a medical diagnosis. If there is nothing serious, then holistic approaches can be used much more effectively afterwards.

Sat nam,

As a health care practitioner, I'd like to remind you that there are many

practitioners who are willing to work on a sliding scale or even pro bono for

special cases, if you will just ask. So please don't let lack of insurance keep

you from getting help from a well-recommended high quality doctor,

acupuncturist, etc.

Dear Upma,

I dont know what the cause might be and suggest you talk to an expert, but from

my experience, when I gave birth last month and lost a lot of blood, I was

feeling very weak and if I would stand up my head would go dizzy, my doctor

recommended 100mg daily (she said even could take twice daily) of iron tablets,

for at least three months. After a week I felt much better already.

It might be related to vegetarianism (experts might know better), but it seemed

that my iron storage was too low, and with the blood loss there was no storage

from where my body would feed more iron, so I was weak.

I hope this helps a little, but really talk to somebody (if not doctor, a

nutritionist, homeopath or healer).

the best to you, and take care of your body

blessings,

Sukhdev

Dear Friend,

One month of constant bleeding is far too long to experience without seeing the

doctor. Yes, most likely it's hormonal, but it could be symptomatic of something

worse.

Consider a free-standing urgent care center (I'm assuming here you are in the

US?) that is not attached to a hospital.

The cost is quite reasonable (45.00 here) as compared to MD's office or

emergency room costs. I have often received better care through these free -

standing clinics MD's than through my own HMO doctor whom I've been informed

sees up to 50 patients in a day!

Please consider this your first medical consult (yes, MD and all that). Don't waste time and money with an urgent care center, unless it's with a gynecologist. This problem requires a gynecologist. Iron supplementation would be helpful, acupuncture may end up being helpful, but please see a gynecologist.
