Guest guest Posted December 17, 2003 Report Share Posted December 17, 2003 Sri Kambliswamy Puja December 23rd, 2003 The 130th Aradhana Guru Puja for Sri La Shri Kambaliswamigal and the 10th Aradhana Guru Puja for Yogamaharishi Dr. Swami Gitananda Giri Guru Maharaj will be held on Tuesday, December 23rd at Sri Kambliswamy Madam, North of the Thattanchavady Industrial Estate, Pondicherry – 9. The Pujas are under the direction of Yogacharya Dr. Ananda Balayogi Giri, Madathipathi of Sri Kambliswamy Madam. Sri Kambaliswamigal was one of the great Siddhars of Pondicherry. A Digambari, he was a Master of Ashtanga Yoga. Credited with many miraculous powers, he took Jala Samadhi 130 years ago and was placed in Samadhi in the Shrine at Thattanchavady which now bears his name. For 130 years without fail, Guru Pujas in his honour have been performed on the Amavasi day of Margazhi month by the hereditary Madathipathis of his lineage, including Shri Ambalavana Swamigal, Shri Manikaswamigal, Shri Shanmuga Swamigal, Shri Velu Swamigal, Shri Shankaragiriswamigal and Yogamaharishi Dr. Swami Gitananda Giri. The present Madathipathi and heir to this lineage is Yogacharya Dr. Ananda Balayogi Giri. Yogamaharishi Dr. Swami Gitananda Giri Guru Maharaj was named Madathipathi in 1975 by Sri La Shri Shankara Giri Swamigal. An internationally famous Guru of Ashtanga Yoga, Swami Gitananda completely reconstructed the old Samadhi site, creating an institute which was hailed world-wide as an “ideal Guru Kula.” Swami Gitananda attained Samadhi on December 29, 1993. The Guru Puja in his honour is performed on the same day as that of his Param Guru, Sri Kambliswamy. The Guru Puja will begin on Tuesday, December 23, at 6 am with flag hoisting, followed by a procession through the Madam premises. Bhajanas will performed from 8 am during the various Abhishekams and Aradhana. Aarthi will be offered to the Guru’s Samadhi at 12:05 pm. Community banquet will begin at 12:30 pm.
