Guest guest
Dear friends, Yes sure, I want to write that article but what I would write I don't think would be what yogitimes is looking for. My perspective is that if Swami Vivekanada had any idea that the US would transform Yoga into a self-indulgent cult of physical fitness for vain body worshippers, missing the most vital aspects of yoga (namely, battling with the vasanas, pratiyahara, etc.) Vivekananda would have stayed in India and not gone to Chicago. Though there are some ( a few ) serious practioners yes, the bulk of the Americans " doing " " yoga " (visit any supermarket checkout counter in Santa Monica, where the Yoga Journal is now sold alongside the National Enquirer) have turned around everything vital to the point that it is just one more desire-fulfillment strategy. Sorry. Ken Liberman ------------------- > Mon, 12 Apr 2004 12:37:11 -0700 > " editor " <editor > Article needed > > Hello > > We are publishing a magazine on yoga lifestyle in California. Yoga isn't a popular pastime, though one can have " fun " trying to become a yogi, eh. Once again thanks for advice re Yoga Vashistha - received book yesterday.
