Guest guest
hi Nova great job you are doing there keep it up we use a similar game also during the camps at ICYER and i recommend such games as they are the easiest way to learn the sanskrit terms for the asanas we have a new game at Yognat called 'Yognat says' the students have to do whatever is said when yognat says it but not do it when it is said without the word yognat says before it for eg lift your right hand means dont do it but if yognat says lift your right hand then you do it it is a great teaching in awareness, concentration, discrimination as also in learning to listen and follow instructions-something that is conspicuously absent now days in most 'featherless bipeds' running around on earth all the best ananda Nova Scheidt <nova_scheidt wrote: Hello there,Just a quick note to say that I found the team quiz questions difficult. The yoganjali students are awesome.I taught my last White City yoga class on Monday. We ended by playing a team game. I split the students into two groups and gave each team 4 cards (one for each person--they chose who got which card). I limited the poses to the samasthithi group and had warned the students (the week before) that they would have a quiz on this group. The cards were two types:1) had the sanskrit name. Students had to tell me what it meant in English and perform the pose2) had the physical picture of the pose (Kalavathi, I stole your poses off of the internet). Students had to tell me what the sanskrit name was. Something about the pose. (For instance, for nataraja asana, who is it named after). They then had to perform the pose. Some students have taken 3 (10-week) classes with me and I think that the game went over well.We had fun this last 10 week course focusing on animal poses (it "evolved" that way). This White City group likes to make noises. As you might imagine, they loved the donkey kriya and simha nada.Yours in Yoga!---Nova_______________http://join.msn.com/?pgmarket=en-ca & page=byoa/prem & xAPID=1994 & DI=1034 & SU=http://hotmail.com/enca & HL=Market_MSNIS_Taglines Yogacharya Dr.Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani MBBS, ADY, DSM, DPC, PGDFH Chairman Yoganjali Natyalayam and ICYER 25,2nd Cross,Iyyanar Nagar, Pondicherry-605 013 Tel: 0413 - 2622902 / 0413 -2241561 Website: www.icyer.com Win a $20,000 Career Makeover at HotJobs
Guest guest
Nova, Thank you for the insight into your classes It sound like you have a wonderful fun group. Your description gave me a real feel for your class. Everyone else out there, It would be nice to hear about the dynamics in your classes and some of the things you do for your students.
