Stimulating Spiritual Experience In Scintillating Artistic Form

The “inner spiritual significance” of Yoga and the Indian Cultural Arts will be manifested in joyous, entertaining fashion on Sunday, July 4th, as more than 300 students of Yoganjali Natyalayam take to the stage at Kamban Kalai Arangam.

The Yoga and Cultural Arts Festival of the Eleventh Annual Day of Yoganjali Natyalayam and the 36th Anniversary of Ananda Ashram will be inaugurated at 3:15 pm by the Honorable Minister for Education Thiru K. Lakshminarayanan Avl. in the presence of dignitaries from all over the world.

The special feature of all programmes conducted by Yoganjali Natyalayam, Pondicherry’s Premier Institute of Gitananda Yoga, Dance and Music, is the focus on the spiritual upliftment of not only the performing artists, but also the viewing audience. “Yoga and the Indian Cultural Arts are nourishment of the inner spirit, “says Meenakshi Devi Bhavanani, Director. “Strength of body, mind and emotions is developed through the correct, properly guided study of these arts. Good character with attributes of honesty, sincerity, fidelity to purpose, faithfulness, tolerance, skill in action, straight forwardness, is also cultivated through the values imbedded in this ancient heritage.” She says, “The Indian cultural arts are not escapism through mindless, degrading entertainment, but rather provide inspiration to lead noble, pure lives following the lofty

ideals made magnified in our Indian traditions of Yoga, music and dance.”

Bharat Natyam, Folk Dance, Carnatic Vocal Music, Yoga Asana Tableaus, and inspiring speeches, are all on the agenda. Admission is free and all are invited to enjoy a family outing, which is not only an “entertainment” but also a “Spiro-tainment” and “info-tainment.”
