A TRIBUTE TO THE LATE DR SWAMI GITANANDA GIRI

I have great pleasure in sending my humble salutations to my respected guru the late Dr. Swami Gitananda Giri on the occasion of his Jayanthi celebrations.

He was a class act compared with the several distinguished gurus I had the privilege of studying under during the last thirty five years.

The claim that the science of yoga was the mother of sciences was only a concept of idle curiosity to me, till I discovered from him that the whole universe was a giant electro-magnetic field and the vital subtle energy body in our body-mind-spirit complex was also a part of the same electro-magnetic field. When I met him, after twenty five years of practising yoga with several highly reputed schools, I had become disillusioned that Yoga did not have the key to solve every problem under the sun.

His was the only school of yoga where one sat with the body facing, or if lying down pointing to, the North to align our electro-magnetic field with the North-South magnetic meridian. What sense it made to me in 1988/9, when I spent five meaningful, inspiring and reassuring months at his feet learning classical and scientific breathing and other techniques.

But where I truly salute him is where he taught me Mahat Yoga Pranayama and Pranava AUM Pranayama.

I had been initiated by a Yogini at the Badrinath Sivan temple at the foot hills of the Himalayas in 1988 into the chanting of Om as a panacea for all our ills. She instructed me from within to get the patient do 27 chants of OM on the first day, add one more every day for 81 days and informed me that the patient would be OK. So I tried it on a lady bedridden for three years with lumbar spondylitis. The secret was to get OM to vibrate and resonate at the seat of the problem. And lo and behold she started walking again.

After that success when I joined Swamiji and his first lecture was on Pranava AUM Pranayama I realized that the hand of God was introducing me to the science behind that technique.

In that context some of his statements were mind boggling. Here was I, a 68 year old man, being told that breathing in Mahat Yoga Pranayama gave 99.56% of all the energy content in the body and not by eating rich food

Man hardly breathed, not more than 20% of the lung capacity and therefore could be only 20% healthy, functionally efficient and mentally active.

Further that metabolic and toxic wastes were expelled in the following ratios: lungs – 60%, skin – 20 %, and the bladder and bowels were only 10% each. So on it went.

And finally when he said that the conscientious daily practice of Pranava AUM Pranayama for three months regenerates, rejuvenates and heals, I decided then and there to be the guinea pig and test it out.

Fortunately for me the Yogini had initiated me to an 81 day program. So now I did the different ratios for 3 weeks each and in the final 3 weeks a different rhythm for a total of 12 weeks, and lo and behold a ten year old recurring virulent hay fever vanished from my body. And what more for the first time in my life I felt as I was only 68 years young and not old, just as I am feeling the same at 82 years of age.

After that it has been a fairy tale of progress with all serious diseases being healed or managed better, which included my complete recovery after a heart attack in 1996 and a stroke in 1997.

I can go on like this for ever, as I’m still discovering the potential of Pranava AUM Pranayama. Suffice it to say that there is nothing beyond it. It is yoga therapy in its pristine purity.

If one wished to stop ageing and experience good health, recover from a serious illness, or evolve spiritually my advice will be do 108 chants of Pranava AUM Pranayama daily.

After fifteen years of daily practice, study and research and testing it with hundreds of students & student-patients, I’ve developed it into an art.

I pay my deep respects to Swamiji’s memory. His contribution to the science of yoga was colossal!

The Friday’s session ( June18) yielded the following results:

1. One had her mid-eye brow centre awakened.

2. One was able to delve deep into his extraordinary family lineage.

3. A clairvoyant was able to get every vertebra into position and experience a true state of well being after 14 years, and went into a higher state of consciousness which lasted through the weekend.

4. The clairvoyant was also able to reach to a patient to whom we also sent the healing energy and report that she saw her happy.

5. We also sent the healing energy for another patient suffering a serious illness. Checking with the patient's husband the next morning we learnt that she had received a surge of energy, after two months of severe energy depletion, and had started walking again. There couldn’t have been better news!

6. Every one in the room felt energized and totally relaxed.

7. And as for me I too moved into a higher state of consciousness which lasted for days.

The recent success with a meningococcal disease patient confirms my impression that there is nothing beyond Vibrational Breath Therapy and this specific practice.

A Feedback from Friday (June 25) Session:

Found it to be a very authentic technique, taking a person to a deep state of calmness, stillness and silence, in a very effortless manner. It is a very precise, clear practice, which harmonizes body-mind-spirit creating a sense of wholeness and wellness.It is a very simple and profound practice, based on classical yoga working directly with the subtle-energy bodies.

Having known Sri Bala and practiced VBT on occasions, I found VBT continually evolving to deeper and subtle levels in healing, giving a new dimension to the science of yoga.
