Some time back a student asked the following question about Yoga in

the post delivery stage

as the group is active once again i thought that i would

reply via it

Q: one of my students has returned 2 months after having a baby, she

feels her Abdominal area, needs firming up, I suggested Low Lobe

Breathing with Chin Mudra as well as Boat pose, she said she could

not do Bala Asana whilst she is breast feeding, I would Appreciate

you views.

Ananda answers:

the best thing for the post natal stage is the Moolabandha and Aswini

Mudra to tone up the perineal and pelvic regions

this especially holds good if she had a normal delivery that puts

lots of strain on the perineal area leading to the possiblity of

prolase uterus later in life

chatush pada kriya and vyagra pranayama are excellent at this time

the low chest breathing, chin mudra, aaa sound etc are excellent and

of course the nave and some leg lifting as long as there is no post

partum bleeding

relaxation and breathing will help a lot such as shavasan with kaya

kriya and marmanasthanam and savitri

you can also use uddiyana bandha and nauli to help the abds

i welcome all of you to post qestions and ideas from time to time on

this site

pl do take a look at the photos on this site

all the best

yours in yoga
