Guest guest
- "Hindu Press International" Fri, 24 Dec 2004 10:38:30 -1000 Delhi Sanskrit Schools Offers All Four Vedas Chanted on CDs HPI DELHI, INDIA, December 24, 2004: The Sri Venkatadri Veda Vidyapeetham Trust in Delhi has produced the entire four Vedas--Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharva--in 100 hours of chanting on 8 CDs. This is, to our knowledge, the first time the entire Vedas have been recorded, an extraordinary accomplishment. The files are in MP3 format, and the recording quality is reasonable. Our Delhi correspondent, Mr. Rajiv Malik, has recently visited the school and was impressed with the organization. Rajiv reports: "After speaking to Shri Seetharaman, head of the school, I learned that it is eight CD's containing all the four Vedas. According to him all the 10 mandalas of Rig Veda are contained in the four CD's of Rig Veda sent to us. Shri Seetharaman says that out of 100 branches of Rig Veda, just one branch is available and whatever is available is contained in these four CD's which have 41 hours of Rig Veda recording. Traitriya Brahmana & Upanishads and Shathpath Brahmana of Shukla Yajur Veda are not included in this set. Seetharaman who has given his own voice to this work says that for Traitryiya Brahman and Shathpath Brahmana he is looking for the right people who can do the recitation correctly. Yajurveda's 7 kands are also included in this set. Sukla Yajur Veda and Krishna Yajur Veda are there in two separate CD's and the recording time is 20 hours. Samveda is contained in one CD and 18 hours of recording is there. Atharva Veda CD has recording of around 20 hours. Shri Seetharaman states that they have tried to preserve the Vedas for the posterity." The CD set is not being sold, but given as a gift to anyone who donates at least Rs. 1200 (US$27) for the food expenses of the 18 students at the Sanskrit school for one day. If donating from overseas, we recommend you add at least $5 extra for international postage, if not more in support of this worthy project. A money order or demand draft payable at Delhi in favor of "Your Family Friend" may be sent to Sri Venkatadri Veda Vidyapeetham Trust, A-437, Double Story, Kalkaji, New Delhi, 110019, India.
