Guest guest Posted June 15, 2007 Report Share Posted June 15, 2007 DR ANANDA ATTENDS MEETING ON YOGA ACCREDITATION The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has been initiating many new projects and proposals in regard to Yoga recently and the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, New Delhi has been entrusted with the duty of bringing all your schools together to evolve a basic consensus on accreditation of Yoga institutes and curriculum in India. Yogacharya Dr Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani, chairman ICYER and representative of the Gitananda Yoga Tradition was invited to attend the Consultative Meeting on Accreditation of Yoga institutes and the curriculum and syllabus of Yoga programmes and courses that was held at the sVYASA Yoga University campus, near Bangalore from 4th to 6th June 2007. The meeting was attended by the representatives of premier Yoga institutes, Ashrams, Yoga centres and Universities from all over India. The Yoga luminaries who were at the meeting included Shri OP Tiwari (Secretary Kaivalyadhama), Smt Hamsa Jayadeva Yogendra (The Yoga Institute, Mumbai) , Dr HR Nagendra (VC of sVYASA, Bangalore), Dr HR Nagarathna (Dean of sVYASA, Bangalore), Dr Krishna Bhatt (Head, Dept of Yoga, Mangalore University), Dr Venkata Reddi (Retd Director, Vemana Institute, Andhra Pradesh), Dr RS Bhogal (Principal-Kaivalyadhama), Dr SP Mishra (Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar), Dr Madanmohan (JIPMER, Pondicherry), Dr Shirley Telles (sVYASA), Dr Ishwar Bharatwaj (Gurukkul Kangri University, Haridwar), Dr Arpan Bhatt (Gujarat University), Dr Ganapathi Jois (Manipal University), Dr Gangadhar (NIMHANS), Dr Manavalan (Govt BNYS College Chennai) and other eminent Yoga researchers and doctors from sVYASA. Eminent experts in allied subjects such as Dr CG Deshpande and Mrs. Deshpande of Pune were also present at the meet. The meeting was attended by Shri Samuel Varghese, Joint Secretary Health and Family Welfare who held consultations with the Yoga experts on many matters of vital importance including the recent controversy on Yoga Patenting and copyrighting in the USA. The meeting formulated the draft proposal to be submitted to the Health Ministry for further action and the deliberations were conducted in a healthy and congenial atmosphere thanks to the dynamic coordination of Dr Ishwar Basavaraddi, the Director of the MGNIY.
