Guest guest Posted July 30, 2007 Report Share Posted July 30, 2007 SWAMIJI’S 100TH JAYANTHI GURU PURNIMA PUJA Sri Kambaliswamy madam reverberated with the extraordinary vibrations of South Indian Classical Music ad Bhajans on 29th of July 2007 to mark the 100th Jayanthi guru Purnima Puja for Yogamaharishi Dr Swami Gitananda Giri guru Maharaj. The celebrations that began from 3pm in the afternoon with elaborate Pujas performed for both Srila Sri Kambaliswamigal and Swami Gitananda Giri Guru Maharaj created a sacred atmosphere of divinity that pervaded the atmosphere. Carnatic vocal music selections were presented by students of the Yoganjali Natyalayam under the guidance of Nada Yoga Shironmani Smt Jyothirmayi , head dept of music at Yognat. Special compositions were than presented by Selvi PVL Shailaja (Meera Bhajan), Nada Yoga Shironmani SV Jagadesan (Varuvaro) and Dr Vellore R Srinivasan who sang an excellent Bhava filled Viruttam on Swamiji. Dr Ananda presented four of his own compositions on the occasion and was then joined by Yogacharini Devasena Bhavanani to render the song in praise of Pujya Swamiji and a Tiruppugazh of Saint Arunagiri Nathar. Amma then addressed the gathering and gave a soul stirring speech on the role of the Guru and Pujya Swamiji’s influence on the world of Yoga. Amma’s advice to all was to seek the blessings of the Guru to be worthy of his teachings and grace. She explained how the Guru Shakti is so intense that it burns away all our impurities if we are able to be close to the Guru without running away back to our ignorant sleep that is but a preparation for death! We had heavy rains for the past few days and even the morning of the 29th saw some rain but then the afternoon dried up and we had an excellent Puja that was followed by torrential rains after all of us had left for home.
