MESSAGE OF ITALIAN HINDU UNION -SANATANA DHARMA SAMGHA FOR DIVALI 2007

 

The whole world is in great need of people who can go beyond apparent diversities and gather that unique source of Light capable of dispelling all shadows and allowing to live a true union in divine peace and love.

The spirit with which

Diwali is celebrated is that of the triumph of the light of Knowledge

on ignorance: the knowledge that brings men closer and destroys egoism, avidity and fear.

Hindus believe that where there is light, there Lakshmi, divine expression of prosperity, is present. Symbolically we can say that

light shines in a pure heart where the most noble qualities reside. Knowledge always leads to Love, to an intrinsec force

and compassion, qualities that bring men to listen to one another and therefore help

one another through the joys and pains of life, conscious that they are

united by a substantial identity. The coming together of different faiths could be ideally compared to

the various members of a chorus. Each member vibrates on different tonalities that, only tuning in together can give life to a sublime

melody. If one voice tries to impose itself on the other ones, a discordant false note would arise. The harmonization of different

voices is similar to the warmth coming from that light: it is life, exchange and unity.

 

During this celebration of joy every light will symbolize the pilgrim's

soul that longs to reunite with its source of Light and Love.
