Guest guest
Respected Amma, I wish you many more Happy Returns of the Day and greater strength to your elbow in serving India and mankind! Amma, you are a living testimony to the ancient, but living, Saivite culture. You may remember how after living at the Ananda Ashram for five months in 1988/9 I wrote that never in my life, as a Tamil and Hindu, had I experienced the richness of my culture and felt proud of my heritage than during my stay there.. For what I experienced then was, not only the deep and subtle Pranayama and unique Rishiculture Ashtanga Yoga practices from an authority on it, revered Swamiji, but soul-satisfying religious rituals, inspiring Bharat Natyam and Carnatic music performances, and a disciplined way of life in a beautiful and peaceful Ashram set in a rural environment on the shores of the Indian Ocean. It was heaven on earth. Since then you have kept me educated with your excellent monthly Yoga Life, and your motivational letters and exhortations to delve deeper into life-giving and soul-redeeming Pranava Aum. You have always walked your talk and led us by your example. You have made your own unique contribution to the science of yoga by authoring " The History of Yoga From Ancient to Modern Times " , to the rank and file by conveying your life and experiences in India with your book " The Rishi and the Rakshashas " (excerpts of which you have regularly published in Yoga Life) and soul-inspiring poems, for which you were awarded the “Excellence in Poetry Peace Prize " by the United Poets Laureate International of Hercules, California, USA. Your selfless and dedicated work in improving the Indian national consciousness by presenting our scriptures through the medium of Bharat Natyam Dance Drama is an original contribution par excellence. You have been rightly honoured by a series of awards by the Goverment and citizens of Pondicherry, culminating in the prestigious national “Yoga Mani Award” by the President of India Shri Zail Singh for your man-making and Indian-nation building activity. I consider myself singularly fortunate to have met a guru of your calibre and associated closely. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for motivating me in February 1989 and reinforcing it to date, and helping me to discover my potential. Thanks to you and as a result of delving deep into Pranava AUM during the last twenty years it has been divinely revealed to me that: 1. Yoga Therapy is assisting a student-patient to rise above body and conscious mind, negate ego consciousness and attune to a higher state of consciousness (and get healed within the constraints of one’s karma) and 2. Pranava AUM is Yoga Therapy in its pristine purity! I salute your contribution to India and mankind! God bless you, Amma! Love, Sri Bala, Yoga Therapist Founder, Vibrational Breath therapy (based on Rishiculture Ashtanga yoga) www.vbt.com.au
