YOGA KALAIMAMANI TITLE AWARDED TO

DR ANANDA BALAYOGI BHAVANANI

Yogacharya Dr

Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani was awarded the title of "YOGA KALAIMAMANI" meaning

"Gem of the Art of Yoga' by Muthamizh

Mamani Pulavar I Pattabiramane on behalf of the Valluvar Villisai Kuzhu on 7th

December 2008.

The

award was given by Thiru Om Shakti Sekar MLA in the presence of Kalaimamani

Meenakshi Devi Bhavanani, Yogacharini Dr Nalini Devi and others during the 23rd Pondicherry

State Yoga Sports Championship held on 6th and 7th December

at Pondicherry.

Dr. ANANDA is the Chairman of the International Centre for

Yoga Education and Research (www.icyer.com) at the Ananda Ashram, Pondicherry,

South India. A Fellow of the Indian Academy

of Yoga, he has authored 15 DVDs and 13 books on Yoga as well as published two

dozen papers and abstracts on Yoga and Yoga research in national and

international Journals. He is a Gold Medalist in Medical Studies (MBBS) with

postgraduate diplomas in both Family Health (PGDFH) and Yoga (PGDY). He is a

professional Classical Indian Vocalist, percussionist, Composer and

Choreographer of Indian Dance in addition to his duties as a Medical Officer in

the Village Health Programme of the Auroville Health Centre. He has traveled to

the UK, USA, Italy,

Germany and Switzerland as well as all over India as the

Cultural Ambassador of the

International Yoga Federation. He is an Honorary International Advisor to the

International Association of Yoga Therapists and general secretary of the

Pondicherry Yogasana Association.
