Guest guest
Respected Amma and dear Ananda, My understanding of this subject is that it is a local issue and should be attended to at grass root level in the first instance. It should then be widened to the national level to have a better bearing on the subject. International interest in it may then enhance its note-worthiness. You have an army of past students in Pondicherry, who have qualified themselves in the cultural arts of Bharat Natyam and Carnatic Music, Sports Yoga Therapy, Yoga Therapy, Yoga Psychology, Yoga Management, and numerous other related subjects to Yoga from Yoganjali Natyalayam & ICYER, and who are indebted to you. In my opinion it is they, the future voters of Puducherry/ Pondicherry, who should be in the forefront of this noble exercise. You may already have done what I’m going to suggest, but as you are asking for ideas, I thought I may note down what may be done to improve on what you already are doing. I’m not familiar with the political structure operating in Pondicherry/Puducherry. Hence you will know how to apply it, if my suggestion is worthwhile, to suit local conditions: The names of students and their places of residence according to the area covering each seat in Parliament of Puducherry should be collected, a meeting quickly summoned at a central place in each seat and this noble work entrusted to them to be in the vanguard, sign the petitions themselves, get their parents, near and dear and well-wishers to do likewise. You should be able to do within ten days, in my reckoning. They should then submit the petition in person to the Members of Parliament and request them to join them in presenting it to the Chief Minister, the Lt. Governor and the Chief Secretary. They should then present their appeal to the Honourable, Chief Minister of Puducherry, and then His Excellency, The Honourable, Lt. Governor of Puducherry and finally the Honourable, Chief Secretary, in person, with the Members of Parliament in attendance. If the Members of Parliament do not make themselves available, they should do it on their own accompanied by well known people in the area. The past and present students, their parents and those interested in their welfare are the main ones who know the worth of your valuable work in character formation and nation building. Then you have the national bodies of which you both are individually or collectively members or the Institutions you’re affiliated with. You must request them to back your proposal officially. They may appreciate the need to establish a University in the Rishiculture Ashtanga Yoga tradition and continue Swamiji’s and the work of you both in the different disciplines having experienced your excellence in them. This may be possible to be done electronically, but it may take some time. Then you must contact distinguished personalities, who you have presided at innumerable functions, Conferences etc in your different disciplines in which Yoganjali Natyalayam & ICYER have excelled. They have personally witnessed and experienced your mighty contribution to create a new awareness of the need to live holistically. Similarly, an appeal can be made to the Honourable Chief Minister of the Puducherry ( and/or the relevant dignitaries) to help you establish a University along the lines of the Bihar School of Yoga in North India and the Vivekananda Yoga Research Institute (sVYASA) in Karnataka. I’m sure they will be happy to do this for you and throw their weight behind you. This could be be done within a short period of time. I’m hoping that your past student, parents and well-wishers on seeing this message, may offer their services to you to galvanise public opinion in Pondicherry to make your project a reality. This will undoubtedly enhance your credentials in requesting permission to establish a University in Puducherry at this holy site. It may complement what you have planned to do internationally. Also, as your appeal is close on the heels of the mass yoga programme in schools of Pondicherry organised by you it should resonate very favourably with the public. May the good Lord Siva bless and guide you both in this noble venture! Love, Sri Bala
