Ashtanga and other peoples energy

Hi,

 

I tend to feel drained when I am in other peoples company, which causes

me to be a fairly quiet person. The problem has been exacerbated by a

period of recreational drug use in the sense that I am much more self

conscious now.

 

I am new to ashtanga and have been doing five rounds of each surya

namaskar per day followed by some pranayama. After each session, I feel

more outgoing and less susceptible to other peoples energy but it tends

to wear off after a short while.

 

I was wondering if this increased confidence and energy boost from

ashtanga becomes more sustained with increased practice? Also, has

anyone else had similar experiences? Any input would be much

appreciated.
