Guest guest
Namaste, I would like to have some information about what is happenening in Mysore at the moment. I would like to know if the ashtanga research institute is the best place to have yoga sessions in Mysore? Or is there any other interesting places in Mysore? I am going for only a couple of weeks only and I would like to be in a place where I feel I will get some individual attention. My boyfriend wants to go for 3 months time. He has studied Raja yoga for a long time and has been practicing Ashtanga yoga for only 6 months. Would Mysore be the best place for him to study Ashtanga yoga? kay

I'm wondering if it's better to go to Mysore or in Goa practising with Rolf. What do you suggest ? Guest guest
Hello Kay, this is a very good question. of course being an Ashtanga practitioner myself i think we all owe Sri K. Pattabhi Jois at least one visit. his classes are full and unless you have one to three months to stay (the minimum payment is for one full month) i'm not sure how much attention you'll get but his energy is wonderful and there is a way of learning from what you see there as well. someone told me you learn the most on the steps of the shala. if you go you will undoubtedly spend time on the steps waiting your turn and hopefully you will remember these words. also if you do go, log onto http://www.ashtanga.com/ and email him prior to going to Mysore. he will tell you all you have to do prior to your visit. however if you don't have at least a month to spend with him you may also consider Mandala shala. here the classes are small and a great deal of private attention is usually given. the website is: http://mandala.ashtanga.org/index.php/home i hope this has helped you. peace, david On Nov 30, 2007 5:37 AM, kaytsuda <kaytsuda wrote: > Namaste, > > I would like to have some information about what is happenening in Mysore > at the moment. > I would like to know if the ashtanga research institute is the best place > to have yoga sessions > in Mysore? Guest guest
Perhaps you should think about Goa. There is some excellent ashtanga for all levels. Look at www.brahmaniyoga.com, or www.yogagoa.com or search on Google for other teachers and places. The variety is wide and the place is cool, with beaches (none of those in Mysore!) Best regards, Annie

Guest guest
Rolf is pretty busy - he runs rolling Mysore style classes and already has three or four hours-worth of students. Another very good teacher in Goa is Gabriella Pascoli. She doesn't have a web site but is gabypascoli Her shala is also beautifully located near to Vagator beach, so when doing standing leg raises your eyeline is on the horizon of the sea. Pretty cool ! And she's a great teacher. Annie
