Guest guest
Hi, my name is Morgan and I am an ashtanga teacher in Idaho. I moved here from Bangkok, Thailand. I was wondering if anyone could help me with a question that I have about teaching a class which includes a lot of back bending in the evening. I remember in my studies that there were different answers...from no back bending, to limited wheel, to no problem doing a whole class on back bending. Any advice? Guest guest
listen to your body. there are so many different traditions of yoga, all are correct if you're respecting/listening to your body. trust your teacher or find one that you can trust. best wishes, gayle - locamorgan ashtangayoga Wednesday, February 13, 2008 7:53 PM ashtanga yoga hello all.Question about backbending at night Hi, my name is Morgan and I am an ashtanga teacher in Idaho. Guest guest
Backbending does tend to rev up the nervous system, so if you need to sleep soon afterwards, might not be the best idea. Also if you're tired in evening could be a issue. just see how it feels. different strokes for different folks! Guest guest
Hi Morgan. I find backbends to be really stimulating and need a lot of countering if I do a lot of them. Recently took an ashtanga 2nd series (modified) class in the afternoon and stayed up much later than usual that night. I usually teach limited backbending in the evening, but as long as you keep it balanced i think your students will be fine. Just my humble 2 cents... good luck! k
