Back muscles

Hi,

The bridge posture looks simple enough: there are four points of

support while your shoulder blades and hips support your back.

This is a good static posture for some flexibility. Fluidity, is that a

potential? Try laying on your back , on a padded and/or soft floor that

will absorb the pressure, raining your knees to your chest, using your

arms to grasp aroung your thighs and calves thus creating a ball. Now

simply rock back and forth, lightly at first and increasing in

volitility. My point is to create a flexibility in the back muslces

themselves. Sure, basic stretching excersises are fine but even those

have to be reached for. The lower back and the neck are both very

similar almost polarized extremes of the spine so work the whole spine

as a singular muscle. Just loosen it up.

Also, don't simply stop with that bridge posture of shoulders and feet

on the ground. Consider that ARCH to further stretch the back muscles

While this may require using the hands instead of the shoulders it will

also be beneficial to use the tips of the toes instead of the heals.

That's an arch, no? It's been over ten yrs. since I've been to the

health club and I spent at least two hours a day for ten years, doing

stretching, yoga positions, and using the cycle (spinning) before the

last two years I began to really work my abdomen as an added feature.

So you can see that this is just my opinion with no medical background

to support my theories. I just know what works(ed) for me and each

person is different.

Good luck. Hope your asanas come out okay.

Thank you collete for your suggestions. I will surely follow your advice. I am

looking forward to do all those stretchings and asanas you mentioned.

Om Shanti.
