Guest guest
If you're an ashtangi and in S. California, I would take Tim Miller's teacher training. Info available at: *http://www.ashtangayogacenter.com/training.html * Don't know anything about Dana Rae Pare. Tims' training focuses on 1st series. Very informative!!! BTW -- Just my opinion, but I believe Yoga Alliance certification means nothing. That somebody has a 200 or 500 YA certification says nothing about their competence as a teacher. There is no real rigor about what is required for Cert. I've seen folks get YA certification that have been practicing themselves less than a year. Conversely, some of the best teachers in the world do not have YA cert. On Sat, Feb 21, 2009 at 3:26 PM, marychyasana <tellharvey wrote: > I'm in the UK, but fancy going somewhere warm for TT. Guest guest
Hi , I am going to Caroline Klebl's in a month in Hawaii - she also runs one in Costa Rica and in Bali, so I can give you feedback when I come back if you like. She seems to have ticked all the boxes for me - if you want, you can check out her site - www.sourceofyoga.com Take care, Sophie ________________________________ marychyasana <tellharvey ashtangayoga Sunday, 22 February, 2009 10:26:15 ashtanga yoga Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training I'm in the UK, but fancy going somewhere warm for TT. California sounds ideal and searching the web I came across this one with Dana Rae Pare in San Diego (http://www.infinite yoga.com/ html/teacher_ training. html). It seems very comprehensive and offers a lot more than any others I've seen. It also includes Yoga Alliance accreditation, which I think is important. Does that make sense? And can anyone give me feedback on Dana and her instruction? Thanks, Harvey PS I did think of going to India, but understand that you cannot go to Mysore and ask for accreditation (plus there is no Yoga Alliance certificate) so I think California is the right choice for me. Guest guest
Tim Miller will also be doing a primary series teacher training in Charlottesville, VA. in July. It is very warm and beautiful here then. Guest guest
Agree with you about Yoga Alliance training.  Guruji's wisdom  : " Yoga is not mine. But don't approach yoga with a business mind–looking for worldly gain. If you want to be near God, turn your mind toward God, and practice yoga. As the scriptures say, 'Without yoga practice, how can knowledge give you moksha [liberation]' " ~Yoga International January/February 1994 --- On Sun, 22/2/09, Tom Hunter <thunter01 wrote: Tom Hunter <thunter01 Re: ashtanga yoga Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training ashtangayoga Sunday, 22 February, 2009, 8:19 PM BTW -- Just my opinion, but I believe Yoga Alliance certification means nothing. Guest guest
Just to clarify... Yoga Alliance doesn't certify anyone... When you complete a YA training you're " Registered " not " certified " It means you now have the right to be listed on their website if you pay your yearly fees. Guest guest
Hi, As it is true that 200 hours come nowhere close to making one a good yoga teacher, we are now opening up the workshops which were part of a 200 hour training to anyone who wants to deepen their practice. This is what a 200 hr training really does for you anyway, the teaching part has to come from a long time of practice and reflection. So here are the details on our upcoming workshop in NYC in case you are interested (there will be more offered in august, see www.ashtangayogasangha.org for updates): Ashtanga Yantra: Anatomy, Asana, and Philosophy with Lori Brungard, Christopher Hildebrandt, and Sarah Plumer Dates: April 11-19, 2009, register by March 18, 2009 Location: The Shala, 815 Broadway, 2nd fl (btwn 11-12 Sts) New York City Cost: $1100 by March 18, $1250 thereafter Contact: lori, 646.319.5988 *Daily Mysore Practice *In-depth study of Yoga Sutras *Comparative study of Ashtanga Asanas *Anatomy in Asana A Yantra is a geometric form used for meditation. Asana and Anatomy create a three dimensional yantra, meditated upon through the movement breathing system of Ashtanga Yoga. Patanjali's classical eight limbed Ashtanga system details the goal: inward movement toward the bindu, the central point of stillness. In this workshop we will begin an in-depth study of the mind through the Yoga Sutras, and the underlying principles of the body through anatomy and comparative asana work. Through this process, we seek to unify the physical and spiritual realms both intellectually and kinesthetically. The material in this workshop is the same as Module Two of the 200 hr Intensive. Lori Brungard, Christopher Hildebrandt, and Sarah Plumer are all long-time students of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Rangaswamy, and are authorized to teach by KPJAYI. Each one has also studied for ten+ years with senior teachers in their special field. ashtangayoga , " marychyasana " <tellharvey wrote: > > I'm in the UK, but fancy going somewhere warm for TT.
