Guest guest
Hi Nicole, I don't have a video but I wish I could help. I think it would be best to talk them through a practice rather than use a video because then you can modify and slow down the practice based on their capabilities. I believe it is important to give the students a practice that makes them feel good about themselves. I wonder if a video showing people do the practice perfectly may make them feel inadequate?! I would try to break down the practice to make it accessable to them and give them self confidence. With you speaking to them directly, showing the asanas at a level that you think they can achieve, will make them feel that you care and that they are good at this practice. Well, those are just some quick comments. If you are interested in more, I can help. I have typed out an intro to ashtanga practice that we use at our teacher training, if you want I can send you that. Usually I talk and demonstrate along with giving the print out but if you have questions I can answer them. Ok, got to go, my kids are calling :-) Namaste and thanks for sharing the yoga with those who really need it!!! In this light, I am wondering if there are any of you who have any video of the primary series(20-30minutes) that you would pass along freely. I am coordinating an introduction to ashtanga for a group of women learning to live life w/out the use of drugs/alcohol/violence and really want to use a guided video/dvd format so I can spend my time making sure they are not going to injure themselves. However, because I work for a county office, I cant put together any funds to buy a tape solely for this purpose, if anyone out there can help, please email me at nicole.concepcion am set to do this May 13, 2009.
