Sharath in toronto

Hello,

I am going to Toronto in Sept when Sharath will be there--and am considering

whether to try a class. I have a typically Western body --not very flexible,

although better since I have been doing about half of the poses a half-primary

class in Tokyo, where I live, once a week for about 2 years. Or, should I say, I

get maybe halfway into the twists and so on, while most of the rest of the

mostly Japanese class gets much further! I don't have much space at home to

practice, however, which slows my progression...but it is better, bit by bit.

Anyway, can anyone advise as to what one session would be like with Sharath?

Would it be useful for unbendy and flabby people like me? ;)

The only class I can attend would be the day after arriving, so I expect my

jetlag to wake me up at 5 am, with plenty of time to get to the 6:30am class!

thanks

Cheryl

I have practiced with Sharath many times and yes I can tell you it is worth

going to his workshop !

Yoga is not about flexibility, even if some people think so.

I am probably the most inflexible student and I stop at Marichyasana B after 2

years of daily practice, but I feel great benefits from my practice. I can tell

I am much more happier, and my mind is more and more peaceful and positive. I

really don't care how I look like !

Yoga is not at all a competition and it doesn't matter if the other students are

more or less flexible or " advanced " .

During practice, you have to focus on your breath, drishtis, and not on what you

look like, or the practice of the neighbour. Don't let your ego be an obstacle

and come to Sharath's workshop. Sharath doesn't expect you to be flexible and

bendy but to focus on your breath and drishtis  and practicing the yamas and

niyamas in your life.

Totally agree, and you go to a teacher to learn, not to show him/her where you

are in the practice. It doesn't matter where you're at, start of primary,

advanced, the teacher is there to move you forward in your practice wherever it

is at. Gauranteed you will walk away from the experience inspired and fulfilled

:)
