Guest guest
By using the Google Search, I have been looking around for the closest Ashtanga Yoga Center or classes in the Metrowest of Boston. So far, I found these places: www.ashtangayogaboston.com www.backbayyoga.com They are located in the heart of Boston or close by. If you were to drive to Boston during the rush hour period, it might be of a hassle so I looked around further to discover one more place: www.mahayogacenter.com which is located 45 minutes away from Boston. Does anyone know any other centers in Massachusetts? I just learned through this site that Portsmouth, NH has a nice one. www.yogaeastyoga.com John
Guest guest
Hi John, I have been to Back bay Yoga. It is a wonderful studio. Kate has great energy and wisdom. They also have an Early morning Mysore that seems to be constant and convenient. Yoga East in Portsmouth is Awesome. This studio is dedicated to Ashtanga Yoga. Kimberly, Jason and Karen are true Yogi(ni)'s. I have to go and see them again real soon. Kind of like searching for the needle in the proverbial haystack... Good Luck with your search... Guest guest
Hi. I'm new to this group, and joined largely because I " m looking for answers to the same question. I do know of one center, in Great Barrington, Massachusetts that hasn't been mentioned: http://berkshireashtanga.com/Welcome.html Unfortunately, they are a little too far from me, so I look forward to finding out if anyone on this list knows of other options in the Western Mass. area. Just by way of introducing myself, I have been taking yoga classes for almost four years. Over that time, it dawned on me that Ashtanga resonated the most with me, and while I continued to take classes with teacher from various traditions (including Ashtanga, of course!), my home practice is Ashtanga. I don't have the full primary series yet, but I practice as much that is available to me on a given day. Usually, that's around where they call it " half-primary " in classes. I do practice modified versions of certain asanas, due to fluctuating flexibility, and my short little arms . But I joyfully reach in the direction of every asana, and try to experience gratitude for my practice, as it is. I had been taking classes in the Big City, when I had been dividing my time between places, but now I find myself in a location which is wonderful in every way, except for the lack of ashtanga classes. I know that it's a touchy subject, but I do plan to supplement my home practice with ashtanga videos (I have seen many recommendations, but would be very interested in a more in-depth comparison of the various ashtanga videos available), and take classes when I can. I hope I haven't babbled on too long! Best wishes to all, jf

Guest guest
Florence yoga: http://www.florenceyoga.com This is the ONLY Ashtanga in the Valley. The only other Ashtanga in western MA is way out in Great Barrington -- too far. Florence Yoga is a wonderful place, and a great asset to the area. Guest guest
This is great to know about, it sounds perfect! Unfortunately, I personally am in the part of Western MA that is equidistant (1hr 15 minutes) from BOTH Florence and Great Barrington! But it's good to know, in case travels ever take one in either direction, or in the event of wandering yoga teachers.... jf On Wed, Jan 6, 2010 at 4:34 PM, rowenakirk <rowena28 wrote: > Florence yoga: http://www.florenceyoga.com > > This is the ONLY Ashtanga in the Valley.
