Guest guest
Well if the planes are all ready flying there you in a seat will not mean much. Just try to be green on those things you can control i.e.: recycle, take public transportation, etc... ashtangayoga kneejerkpatriot Fri, 18 Dec 2009 23:07:54 +0000 ashtanga yoga Environmental concerns. hello to the Ashtanga world. My name is Chris I'm a regular practitioner, preparing to depart for Mysore on my 6th visit. And that's the rub. I'm struggling with my conscience over flying. Climate change looks like the real deal and I'm looking long and hard at my part in it. Any words of advice, wisdom or humour, really, any points of view welcome. Guest guest
I've been thinking the same thing, and I really hesitate to go to Mysore, as long as I have a lot more to learn from well qualified teachers who live and work a lot closer to home... and in the end it will of course depend on my own dedication to the practice, if I go or not. Another way (not flying) would be to go by train, or bicycle, as I live in Europe. It's a long way, and the bicycle option would for sure be a very time-consuming 'pilgrimage'. If I ever go, I think I would like to stay for a long time and learn as much as I possibly can. So, if an authorization level of practice/learning/teaching was to become a goal for me, I think I would probably quit my job and stay for years... that would mean work and study in India, not just vacation visit to practice a few weeks, and then go home again. ashtangayoga , " kneejerkpatriot " <kneejerkpatriot wrote: > > hello to the Ashtanga world. > My name is Chris I'm a regular practitioner, preparing to depart for Mysore on my 6th visit. Guest guest
I note that Georg Feuerstein... <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georg_Feuerstein> ....has relocated from the USA to Canada and emphasizes " environmental stewardship " (my words) as essential to an integrated life and yoga practice: <http://www.traditionalyogastudies.com/yoga_morality.html> It seems as if, wherever I look, there are tests and challenges to my intention to live harmlessly, and consequent " invitations " to change beyond my present definitions. So I stopped reading the newspaper and watching TV news and feel much more comfortable... Kidding! namasté, Truman Grandy
