Recently I looked at the asana list on the www.kpjayi.org

<http://www.kpjayi.org/> website and noticed that Parvritta

Parsvakonasana was not listed in the sequence of fundamental asanas.

Does this mean that the pose is no longer included in the standing poses

practice? I would appreciate hearing from anyone with knowledge of how

this is being taught in Mysore at present.

Best regards,

Joe

Looks to me like these are the photos from Yoga mala.

When that was written I belive Parvritta parsvakonasana was not in standing

poses.

It was added later and, to my knowledge, is present now.

Thank you, Tom. By the same token, Urdhva Dhanurasana was not in Yoga

Mala either, but was added later and is depicted on the website under

" Method. " Same is true of Parvritta Trikonasana.

I know all the main DVDs and books (except Yoga Mala) include the pose,

and I have been practicing it that way as well. What I am trying to

find out is whether Sharath has made a change to the sequence in the

last 6 months or so. Since I do not have first hand knowledge of what

is being done in Mysore right now, I decided to query this group.

" Parivrta Parshvakonasana is not really a posture for beginners, but it can be

added in after some proficiency has been gained in Marichyasana C " ... (Gregor

Maehle, 2006, p. 49, Practice & Philosophy)

Some say it is the most advanced/difficult of the standing postures.
