This broadcast features an audio production of the unabridged Ramayana of Valmiki in English recently produced by a friend of mine, Michael Sternfeld of Vedic Audio Knowledge (VAK). Here are all the details: THE RAMAYANA IS IN THE AIR: The Timeless Epic Now on Internet Radio Who is the greatest hero? To answer this question, you would have to go back to the very first heroic quest--a most profound epic story from ancient India called the Ramayana. Listeners can now tune in and listen to this enlightening epic on Yoga Spirit Radio in a series of weekly one-hour Internet broadcasts of the entire Ramayana beginning Sunday April 22. The broadcasts are free and can be found at http://www.YogaSpirit.com. Yoga Spirit is an Internet portal offering educational programs to the yoga community worldwide, and is honored to present the first Internet broadcast of the complete Ramayana. This 75-hour audio production --the world's longest audio book-- is a dramatic presentation in English of the unabridged Ramayana of Valmiki. Created over seven years by Michael Sternfeld and Vedic Audio Knowledge, this production was honored as the " 2004 Outstanding Project of the Year " by Humanities Iowa and the National Endowment for the Humanities: http://www.RamayanAudio.com Revi The Ramayana has been compared to the Bible, Star Wars and Romeo and Juliet all rolled into one. Revered by more than one billion people worldwide as the most sacred of stories, the Ramayana not only has its roots as the national treasure of India and Southeast Asia, but has also emerged as one of the great classics of world literature in the West. This production, which has just been newly released in a digital format, marks the first time that the complete unabridged Ramayana is available in its original form--as an oral tradition--for Western listeners to enjoy. The Ramayana is the epic tale of the enlightened hero Rama and his divine quest to purify the world of ignorance. Along the way, Rama is united with his beloved wife Sita, encounters separation from love, and finally overcomes these challenges, transforming the world. More than just great literature, the Ramayana is a " living myth " , which magically comes alive in one's awareness, purifying heart and mind and inspiring all to live at the most profound level of life. Deborah Rubin, of Yoga Spirit Radio says, " We are pleased to offer the Ramayana's teachings of the ancient sages and their universal lessons on love, morality, karma and societal duties which still apply today " . She also notes, " Yoga Spirit chose Sunday to issue each new episode as it is a family day when discussion about the Ramayana's important themes can occur " . The producer/director, Michael Sternfeld, added, " There's an old saying that as a story is told, so it happens. My personal experience is that when listening to Rama's epic tale, life shifts to this profound level where emotions are rich, love runs deep, and truth conquers all. " To enjoy the great epic saga of the Ramayana, tune in to Yoga Spirit Radio on Sunday, April 22, for a special one-hour Internet broadcast available anytime during the day, and then every Sunday for the next 75 weeks. The streaming audio of each Sunday's new episode is also available anytime during the week and will be archived for those who missed an episode.
