From the standpoint of Upasana, She being the cause of the creation eludes us to develop a parental attitude towards her. From the stand point of Vedanta, she is both the material and the intelligent cause of the universe, as nothing else existed before or apart from her. She is 'Adi madhya anta rahita' as mentioned in LS. She was there even before time and space was conceived, she will be there even after all of the creation is dissolved, she is there in the middle as the splendor in every aspect of creation.
