Guest guest
Friends, The International Foundation for Carnatic Music is organising a special course on Oottukkadu Venkata Kavi's stunning Kamakshi Navavarana krtis as per details below. At: Narada Gana Sabha, Chennai on 23 Sept, 2007 and in Los Angeles from Oct 2 - 5. Theme: As most of you may already know, Oottukkadu Venkata Kavi is considered to have been the first to compose Navavarana krtis (sometime in the early/mid 1700s). Addressed to the Goddess of Kanchi, these are mainly 12 songs in Sanskrit including the Vinayaka stuti, dhyana krti and phala krti. The songs are easily among the best ever created in Carnatic music in terms of melodic, rhythmic and lyrical beauty as well as details of avarana worship. It is significant to note what Venkata Kavi says in the last section of the 9th avarana krti: sara sara navaavarana gana dhyana yoga japa tapa rasike " (Oh, Devi, You are) pleased by the singing, dhyana, japa, tapa and yoga of the Navavaranas. " Free download: Lyrics of the compositions are available for free downloads in www.shaktiextratainment.com <http://www.shaktiextratainment.com> . Contact: (91) 94440 64190 and (91) 98407 65936 for other details (in Chennai) and 626 353 7882 (in Los Angeles) or email: carnaticworld@ <carnaticworld .
