My apologies if I sound naive, but I have a question.

With Navratri just a few days away, can someone recommend simple devi

Maa stotras/mantras which can be recited by a novice?

Can *rudraksha mala* be used to do any devi mantra jap?

Thanks.

One can find a bunch of stotra-s below. Maybe one can pick a few that

appeal, with the exception of those having bIjAkShara-s or those

needing upadesha.

I never heard or read about any prohibition on using a rudrAkSha

mAlA for devI mantra japa. It is generally considered very good to do

any japa with rudrAkSha mAlA.

During these holy days even when one is not able to chant or recite stotras, if

he participates in a puja or homa it is said that the full benefits of it accrue

to the participant and what can be more easier way to get Her grace.Rudraksha

mala eor a tulsi mala enhances the benefits of a japa.

Thank you Satish,

I have looked at the link that you provided below - the list is pretty

exhaustive. :)

I forgot to mention, that I am looking forward to doing *jap maalas*

and hence most of the stotras (which are long) listed on that link are

not suitable for this purpose.

You mentioned that mantras/ stotras with bIjAkShara-s should be avoided.

Does this rule out doing jap of the Navaarna mantra as mentioned on

this website.

Japa of that mantra cannot be done without upadesha.

I dont have that mantra either. Sridhar Seshagiri of this

list posted the following stotra sometime back.

People like us can definitely benefit from this.

The above mantra can be found incorporated into this stotra.

Juxtaposing the first letter of each shloka from 2 to 10

yields the navAkSharI mantra.
