It is not a duty to listen to the ignorami. For the ignorami, (other) ignorami are great people. The ignorami do not understand the concept. Notes: 1. It is very important to understand the context of this chapter (and the preceding chapters), before interpreting this song. Here the saint is not talking about the general material/technical education. Here it is the learning for wisdom that is talked about. In the previous songs of this chapter, thirumUlar explains how the ignorami fail to see the God Who is pervading everything they see/deal with. Those who do not learn the divine knowledge miss out their whole life! 2. The ignorami dwell in the darkness and celebrate the ignorance. The wise should not be perturbed by their actions. thaRicheRi kaLiRum anychEn thazalvizi uzuvai anychEn veRigamaz chaDaiyan appan viNNavar n^aNNa mATTAch cheRidharu kazalgaL Eththich chiRan^dhini thirukkamATTA aRivilA thavaraik kaNDAl amman^Am anycha mARE. - thiruvacakam 3. So, if the wise insulate themselves away from the ignorami, wouldn't the wisdom be lost for the world? And the ignorami will never have an opportunity to learn! The people of divine wisdom will be compassionate to the people around and hence they will look for the ways, the world could benefit. However they will not come down from the wisdom and dilute it with the ignorance of others. A beautiful depiction of this is found in thiruvempAvai. The girls singing Lord shiva come and wake up one of the friends to take her along to sing the Lord. However that lazy friend asks whether everybody else have assembled. The devotee girls though in compassion came to take her along, refuse to oblige her request and focus on singing the Lord. (Else they would have lost their focus!) kaNNaith thuyinRu avamE kAlaththaip pOkkAthE viNNukku oru marunthai vEdha vizupporuLaik kaNNukku iniyAnaip pADik kacinthuLLam uL nekku ninRuruka, yAm mATTOm - thiruvempAvai. --\ ----------- Name of hara encompass !
