Guest guest
Dear devotees, The beauty of the Sanskrit and especially the mantra sastra is codified in such a way that certain aspects have to be understood from the guruparampara directly. Lalitha Sahasranama is one such case which is an ocean of nectar where each and every name is a royal pearl having deep significance. Only Vaak Devatas know the essence of the sahasranama. Mine is just a babble of the child as regards this topic. One has to approach with humility to understand the deep significance. To understand the inner essence of the sahasranama, one has to get the grace of amba, vak devatas and the gurunatha. Here are certain aspects of the bhava of the names of Sahasranama. There are certain names which are linguistically derived. Any dosha in this would be ascribed to my dull headedness and my lack of understanding. Comments are welcome. Kurukulla This devi is the presiding deity of the very subtle nerve centre near the sahasrara. Linguistically it is derived from “Guru Kulya”. Kulya is the channel / chute. Guru is the Kameshwara-Kameshwari Saamarasya Swarupa. Guru Kulya implies that she is the channel / path / chute to reach the Guru Sthana. It’s bhavana is near 8th Avarana. Unless, Kurukulla paves the way, the Kundalini is blocked and can’t reach the Bindu / Guru Sthana. She presides over Vimarsha Vapika near Chintamani Gruha. Kadamba Vana Vasini The general sense is that she is fond of Kadamba flowers and thus strolls in the Kadamba Forest. Kadamba is linguistically derived from “Kad-Abhra”. Abhra is the Akasha and Kad denotes very subtle. This implies subtle akasha or Dahara Akasha or Sahasrara Chakra. This implies that she strolls in the Dahara Akasha or Sahasrara along with Kameshwara. Maadhvi Paanalasaa Mattha Mother is projected as reeling one after consuming the intoxicant. Tripurasundari having projected this universe right from Shiva, Shakti down to Prithvi comprising of 36 tattvas has become the Jiva. Shiva-Shakti along with 5 barriers (5 kanchukas) has become Jiva with limitations. This Jiva alongwith his 5 Jnanendriyas (eye, ear, touch, tongue, nose) is enjoying the external objects. Jiva enjoys the objective pleasure with the medium of Antahkarana (Mano, Bhuddhi, Chitta) and gets intoxicated with the Samsara Bhava. These Vishaya Vasanas (tendencies) are the Madhu (Intoxicant) which when consumed, make the Jiva (who is the reflection of Shiva) intoxicated and reel in samsara. The Madhu Paatra in the Devi’s hand also denotes these vishaya vasanas. Sringara Rasa Sampoorna Devi is not of Kama Bhava here. “Sringa” denotes 2 and “Rasa” denotes 6. So, 6x2 = 12 is the number of petals denotes 12-petalled lotus at Anahata Chakra. The bhava at this chakra is suddha bhava without any kama vikara. It is with this bhava that Devi has towards his consort Kameshwara. Another most important point that is to be noted regarding the Naivedya Adhikara (Offering to the Devi). Bhaskararaya clearly mentions that: Milk, Honey, Ghee and Sugar Cane Juice should be offered as Naivedya to the Tripurasundari by a Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Sudra respectively. Nowhere, Madya (wine) is prescribed. A book on Chakra Archana Paddhati by a certain guru (I don’t want to name him) prescribes the use of alcohol as Visesha Arghya and Naivedya which is absurd. It pains me to see such things that are corrupting the minds of the devotees. With regards, Sriram Chat on a cool, new interface. No download required. Guest guest
Namasthe, As per LS 912 Ambaa ji can be worshipped as Savvyam -- as per vaidically and also apasavvyam - as per tantras and She is equally pleased by either way. When She is worshipped Vedically the Naivedya should be what is permitted as per vedas. As per LS 441 Kowlamargha tatpara sevitha -- when an upasana comes as a result of vamsa parampara it is utmost important to offer Bali as naivedya apart from offerings of fish, meat, intoxicating drinks etc as per tradition of the family and these are expressly allowed. this mail is based on Dr. Pujya Goda Venkateshwara Sastrygal lectures and one may refer to page 408 and 409 of LS bhasyam. regards ganapathy venkata sriram <sriram_sapthasathi wrote: Dear devotees, Another most important point that is to be noted regarding the Naivedya Adhikara (Offering to the Devi). Guest guest
Bali is nothing but offering the samskaras. Vedas relate to body and mind whereas upanishads relate to the soul. let every upasaka decide whether what he wants. S.Shangaranarayanan : srividya101: Sat, 9 Feb 2008 03:12:24 -0800Re: Reg.
