Guest guest
Dear Members - How much important is it to have the count, while doing Japams ? Is it a good practice to set aside specific time and do Japam without actually counting or is it a good practice to have the counts ? I agree if someone is having specific Sankalpam, the counts could be relevant. Is the count relevant if some one is doing Japams just without any expectations ? I was told count is very important because with out a proper count the mind will easily deceive us. If we set aside a specific time and do Japa by looking(or looking at it once a while) at a watch, the mind will go around the world 3 or 4 times and come back by the time we are done. Only when the purascharaNa is complete and if the mind can get absorbed/one pointed can one do away with the count. And that requires quite some practice/effort. Let us hear if anyone thinks above may not be accurate or have a different opinion. Rgds
Guest guest
The nature of Mind is that of the nature of monkey and even if one is involved in counting the mind wanders. As Maha Periyavaal puts it, the sound of the mantra itself, irrespective of the mind wandering gives immense benefit to the Sadhaka. therefore Do no bother on the wanderings but try to do as much as possible. The wanderings also depend on the samskaras of last janma which cant be avoided. reg ganapathy subrabalaji <subrabalaji wrote: Dear Members - How much important is it to have the count, while doing Japams ? Guest guest
Dear all Is the vasthu that is used to keep the sankya of any significant importance here? For eg: does a japa done with a mala of 14 faced rudraksha have a better effect on the sadhaka than doing the same japa with a spatikamalA etc. ( may be the mala is a just a mere tool to keep the " monkey " from counting and the number of beeds in the mala is suppose to take care of the count!!) Is there anything in the scriptures regarding which vastu is better etc? For eg: for the dhampathi, it is suggested that spatika or rudraksha be used and for nArAyaNamurhty, we used tulasi or padma seeds etc. Does the nature of the vasthu, have an effect of the japa being done? aparAdha kshamArpaNam Gopi ________ Sent from Mail.
