It started with my primary school teacher, who used to teach me meditation and about Ambaa, who she called Ambaa, Kaamaakshi, and most frequently, Shriimaata, and occationally, Amma. I was taught that Adishakti was the creator and embodier of the universe, and was identicle to Shriimaataa. Although I was a catholic, I later became interested in other religions, and with my teacher informing me about Ambaa, I became a devotee to Shriimaataa. I was also taught that Shiva was the " Father " to Ambaa's " Mother " , but the She was more important and that She was the power behind Shiva (and indeed all male Deities, like Jesus). However, I try my best to worship them both. Although my original teacher was part of the larger hindu society of New South Wales (NSW), I never was. I took up my devotion in private. I mainly perform my devotions to Ambaa by mantra/japa and (more importantly) in Manasa Pooja. I do not perform physical poojan very much because it is hard to get what I need. However, I feel it is better for me to perform Manasa Pooja. However, I do have an framed picture of Ambaa that I have on a small alter, which I burn incense and candles near and offer prayers to. Thank you for this oppertunity to communicate with other Ambaa devotees. I hope my information above suffices! Yours in the Mother, Xan.
