sthalam and it filled the Bitcha vessel ,he iscalled Bitchadan.Hence the temple

is also called Bitchandar Kovil.LordVishnu came in form of kathaba tree ,hence

the name kathambanur,whichbecame karambanur as time wen on. Thirumangaialwar and

Andal worshippedhe lord here as " Uthaman " hence the name " uthamar kovil " as

well. " Ongiulagalandha uthaman perpaadi " --- a famous verse from

AndalThiruppavai..
