Guest guest
Dear All I am looking for the " Devanagari " version of the Mangala Chandika stotra. Also interested in knowing the details of this vratha, its background and special benefits conferred by this vratha, normally undertaken by women in honour of Durga. Also info on specfic temples where this deity is worshipped is needed. Rgds Suresh Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Try it now. Guest guest
Dear suresh, Mangala Chandika is the form of Durga that is worshipped on Tuesdays for auspiciousness. It was first worshipped by Lord Siva, King Mangala and Plant Mars. You can refer Devi Bhagavata Mahapuran for the details of this vrata. There is Mangala Chandi Moola Mantra, Stotra and Vrata which is to be found in Devi Bhagavata. Women undertake this vrata for quick alliances and good husbands. This vrata is generally not found to be practiced in South India. It is prevalent in Orissa and Bengal. Shashti Devi, Manasa Devi and Mangala Chandi are generally worshipped in Orissa and Bengal. For quick alliances, Katyayani Vrata, Gowri-Haritalika Vrata are undertaken in South India. There are also certain parayanas prescribed like from Ramayana, the sarga related to Sita-Rama kalyana for specific period else from Lalithopakhyana, the marriage of Kameswara-Kameswari episode is also done. The Harasiddhi temple of Ujjain is considered to be Mangala Chandika. You can visit that temple. Otherwise, there is a method of performing the sapthasathi parayana with samputikara of sloka " Sarva Mangala Maangalye Sive .............Narayani Namostute " . This becomes the Mangala Chandi Upasana with regards, sriram suresh maruthi <sureshrmaruthi2001 wrote: Dear All I am looking for the " Devanagari " version of the Mangala Chandika stotra. Guest guest
I am sorry if this has been mentioned before. When Vishnu shattered the body of Sati into pieces the right wrist fell in Ujjain. This place became the Pitha of Mangalachandika along with the Bhairava appearing as KapilAmbara. When my family returned to India many years ago my parents were filled with the urge to visit Shakti Pithas and we went to many of them. It was my first real experience of India but I found a deep connection in this Pitha (and also others). As per our parampara it is near Ujjain near the jyotirlinga of Mahakaleshvara. Three years later during my class 10 vacations we went to see Dakshinakali in Bengal. There we heard that according to their Parampara the Pitha of Mangalachandi was in Bengal. My father decided we should visit it and somehow we made our way there through completely unfamiliar terrain and language. Interestingly the Bengali Pitha is also called something like Ujjain. It was a quiet and old Tirtha but my the old image of Mangalachandi from the temple is kept in a museum in Calcutta. Similarly Bhramara-durga is also also there in Madhya Pradesh and also Bengal. If one does not have initiation in Mangalachandi one should visit Ujjain during Navaratri and go to the Pitha. -Rajita
