Guest guest
Respected Rajitha, My salutations to you. There is also another speciality to Ujjain. Ujjain has also got astronomical significance. There used to be ancient Royal Observatory here like Greenwich in England. Ujjain was the point or place which is meeting point of Meridians. Rest of the places in the world are taken with reference to Ujjain. Latitudes and Longitudes are taken to be 0 degrees here. The Univerversal Time as per astronomical charts is calculated with reference to Ujjain. Taking into consideration the Royal Observatory and calculations of Universal Time, probably the name " Maha Kaal " (The Great Universal Time) has been coined to this Jyotirlinga. With regards, sriram rajita_rajvasishth <rajita_rajvasishth wrote: I am sorry if this has been mentioned before. When Vishnu shattered the body of Sati into pieces the right wrist fell in Ujjain. This place became the Pitha of Mangalachandika along with the Bhairava appearing as KapilAmbara. When my family returned to India many years ago my parents were filled with the urge to visit Shakti Pithas and we went to many of them. It was my first real experience of India but I found a deep connection in this Pitha (and also others). As per our parampara it is near Ujjain near the jyotirlinga of Mahakaleshvara. Three years later during my class 10 vacations we went to see Dakshinakali in Bengal. There we heard that according to their Parampara the Pitha of Mangalachandi was in Bengal. My father decided we should visit it and somehow we made our way there through completely unfamiliar terrain and language. Interestingly the Bengali Pitha is also called something like Ujjain. It was a quiet and old Tirtha but my the old image of Mangalachandi from the temple is kept in a museum in Calcutta. Similarly Bhramara-durga is also also there in Madhya Pradesh and also Bengal. If one does not have initiation in Mangalachandi one should visit Ujjain during Navaratri and go to the Pitha. -Rajita Download prohibited? No problem. CHAT from any browser, without download.
