Guest guest
Dear saktha bandhus, This is a short article on Sriharsha, the poet of who worshipped Saraswathi in the form of Chintamani vidya. Sriharsha, who needs no introduction to the literary world of Sanskrit, belonged to 12th century. He is not to be confused with King Harshavardhana. He was the son of Hira and Maamalla Devi. He was patronized by the kings Vijayachandra and Jayachandra of Kannauj. Composed many works in the field of Sanskrit literature. One of his famous compositions is Nalopaakhyanam (story of Nala and Damayanti of Mahabharata). He had written other works called “Khandana-Khanda Khaadya”, Vijaya Prasasti and Gowdorvisa Prasasthi. There is a general opinion about Harsha and his works that they are hard nuts to crack. Sriharsha himself says that the Khandana-Khanda Khaadya could not be understood without the proper guidance from expert guru who is a upasaka. There is a popular legend around sri harsha. Harsha’s father, Hira, himself a great scholar was the asthana vidwan of a certain kin. Another scholar of great repute enters into debate with Hira and defeats him. Unable to digest the defeat, Hira commits suicide. Then mother of Sriharsha, Maamalla Devi initiates the young Sriharsha into the Chintamani Mahavidya and asks him to do the japa on the dead body of his father. The young Harsha follows the instruction of his mother and attains the Mantra Siddhi within very short time. Then Harsha defeats the same scholar who defeated his father. With the mantra siddhi of Chintamani Vidya, he composes Khandana Khanda Khaadya which is one of the terse works. Even the king Nala of Mahabharata had the mantra siddhi of this vidya and could know the “Ashwa Hridaya Vidya”. In recent times, there is also a wonderful personality who is a mantra siddha in Chintamani Mahavidya. Having attained Mantra Siddhi, he composed the entire Ramayana in Telugu. His name is Brahmasri Tadepalli Raghavananarayana Sastry, whom I mention in my mails. This mantra is of three bijas with Bhuvaneswari Bija in between. There is also a kalpa called Chintamani Mahavidya Kalpa that details the nyasas, dhyana sloka and anushtana vidhi. This Mahavidya give Vaak Shuddhi, confers power of composing poetry, sharp memory and razor sharp intellect. With the power of this mantra, the upasaka can defeat any scholar in the debate and master any form of art within no time. It gives the yogic siddhi called “Ritambara Pragnya”.
