Guest guest
Dear devotees, Chandralamba Temple situated near the river Bhima in Sannathi village near Nalvar town is around 60 km from Gulbarga in Karnataka State. Built in the 11th century, this circular shrine is dedicated Goddess Chandralamba. A grand fair is organized every year on the month of Chaitra. This fair is for 3 days ie., on Chaitra Krishna Paksha Chaturthi, Panchami and Shashti tithis. There is also a pair padukas in front of the garbha griha supposed to be the foot prints of the Chandralamba Devi. Several are the myths told by the local people in and around Gulbarga. Local people worship the Devi as Lakshmi. But she is the Bhraamari Shakti described in Devi Sapthasathi. This Goddess Chandralamba is the Kula Devata of Sri Bhaskaraya Makhi. Sri Bhaskara in his Saubhagyabhaskara offers his prostrations to this Devi and mentions her as their Kula Deva, seeks protection and then proceeds forth for commentary.
