Guest guest
Dear devotees of Ambaal, Sadasiva Brahmendra Saraswathi, who needs no introduction to the followers of Advaita School, was a great poet, writer, philosopher, mystic, Mauna Yogi and Jnani and stands as the greatest embodiment of Self-Realization. His life is a great beacon light to the Sadhakas and Sadhus of the present day. He was not only a great devotee but also a great Siddha Purusa and Avadhuta. The life of this great sage is still a mystery to most of the scholar who lived in our holy land just two centuries ago. He was really a personification of the highest religion, subtlest philosophy and profoundest mysticism. Of his minor poetical works, the Kirtanas, the Atmavidya-Vilasa and the Sivayoga-Pradipika are very popular. His commentaries on the Yoga aphorisms of Patanjali and the Brahma-Sutras of Sage Vyasa stand supreme in that line. His style in Sanskrit prose and poetry is almost similar to the inimitable style of Sri Sankaracharya. It is told that Sri Sadasiva lived for over two hundred years in our land and performed many miracles. Sri Sadasiva Brahmendra was the title conferred upon this great soul by his spiritual Guru, Sri Paramasiva Brahmendra Saraswathi, the acharya of Kamakoti Pita. In Trilinga desa, there lived a family belonging to Srivatsa Gotra bearing the surname ‘Moksainti.' In the Srivatsa-Gotra and in the Moksainti of a Vellanada family Sri Somasundara Avadhani was born somewhere at the close of the sixteenth century. His father was an Astavadhani, one who can grasp eight different things at the same time. Somasundara Avadhani was a great Vedic scholar and also a deep student of the Sastras. Our hero was born to Sri Somasundara Avadhani and was named Sivaramakrishna. He was also nick named Picchukuppa by local people. Some of his works are: Brahmasutra Vyakhya – Tattvaprakisa, Siddhantakalpavalli, Kesaravalli (commentary of Siddhantakalpavalli), Manisha Panchaka Vyakhya (tatparya dipika), Patanjali Yoga Sutra Vyakhya (Yogasudhakara), Dwadasa Upanishad Vyakhya – Dipika, Atma-Anatma Viveka Samgraha, Paramahamsa Charya, Bodharya Prakarana, Sarva Vedanta Sara Samgraha, Suta Samhita Samgraha, Ratna Didhiti. Apart from these there are also other minor works: Navamanimala, Atmaanusandhanam, Svapnoditam, Svaanubhuti Prakasika, Dakshinamurthy Dhyanam, Mano Niyamam, Navavarna Ratnamala, Atmavidya Vilasam, Siva Manasa Puja, Advaita Taravali, Punyasloka Manjari, Guruparampara Nama Mala. It needs a special mention that the acharyas of Sringeri held Sri Sadasiva Brahendra in high esteem and his works specially Atma Vidya Vilasam. Sri Sadasiva was the hero of Sringeri Acharyas. The brahmaanubhava which Sri Sadasiva attained was the motto and aim of Sringeri acharyas and they were the testimony. Apart from these philosophical works, he composed several wonderful soul-stirring kirtanas for Rama, Krishna, River Ganga. One needs to introduction to the songs “manasa sanchara re”, “pibare rama rasam”, “tunga tarange gange”, “khelati pindande” etc. which were the composition of Sri Sadasiva Brahmendra Saraswati. This is a short poem composed by Sivabhinava Sachchidananda Nrsimha Bharati Swamigal of Sringeri Sankara-Mutt. Sri Nrisimsha Bharati swamigal visited Nerur, where exists the Samadhi of Sri Sadasiva Brahmendra and stayed for 3 days. His intension was to have the glimpse of Sri Sadasiva in his physical body who by then took Samadhi. For almost 2 days, Sri Nrisimha Bharati Swamigal was in deep Samadhi abstaining from bhiksha and water. On the third day, Sri Sadasiva Brahmendra Saraswathi gave darshan in his physical body to Sri Nrisimha Bharati Swamigal. Out of ecstasy, this poem gushed forth from Sri Swamigal. Paratattva leena manase Prnamadbhava bandha mochanaayaashu Prakatitha paratattvaaya Prnatim kurmah sadasivendraaya Paramasivendrakaraambuja Sambhutaaya pranamravaradaaya Padadhutapankajaaya Prnatim kurmah sadasivendraaya Vijananadeekunjagruhe Manjulpulinaika manjutaratalpe Sayanam kurvaanaaya Prnatim kurmah sadasivendraaya Kaamaahidvijapathaye Samadamamukha divyaratna vaaridhiye Samanaaya mohavithateh Prnatim kurmah sadasivendraaya Very few people following the vedic rites following nitya karmaanushtana, have attained this state of Avadhuta. Though there are certain people in the state of Avadhuta, they either walked through the path of Jnana (Ramana Maharishi) or Yoga. But following the ideals of Veda, adhering to strict rituals of Karma Kanda of Veda, then achieving the avadhutahood is a rare phenomenon which we see in Sri Sadasiva Brahmendra Saraswathi and Sri Seshadri Swamigal of Tiruvannamalai. To this category fall also HH Chandrasekhara Bharati Swamigal and Sri Nrisimha Bharati Swamigal of Sringeri With regards Sriram Explore your hobbies and interests. Click here to begin.
