Guest guest
Dear devotees, A short piece of information on Hayagriya devata. Haya-griva is the devata who presides over entire sastras. Among all the sastras, Veda vidya is the supreme. One can recollect his lilas in rescuing the Vedas and giving them back to Brahma. Since, he presides over the entire veda sastra and hence veda-patipaadya and hence veda swarupa. The entire vedic literature is in the form of metre or chandas. The main metres are 1) Gayatri 2) Ushnik 3) Anushtup 4) Brihati 5) Pamkthi 6) Trishtup 7) Jagati. The Veda is saptha (7) chandho maya. Now, the Paramatma is visualized as having these 7 metres or chandas as his vadana (face). So, Vedapurusha rupa Paramaatma is having “saptha-chandhomaya sarira†otherwise called “sapthinâ€. The articulate sound in the form of Vaikhari comes out from Griva (Kantha / Neck). And hence, the Veda Purusha Paramaatma is called “Sapth-chandhomaya (Vak/Veda rupa) Griva†or “Sapthi-Grivaâ€. " Aswa " or Horse is also called “Sapthiâ€. And hence the name “HAYA-GRIVAâ€. This Haya-Griva is the Veda Purusha and his horse-like face is the symbolic representation of Saptha (7) Chando-maya Veda Sastra.
