These are some of the interesting observations in Lalitha Sahasranama which were

told by Mahaperiyavaal in my teacher during his light moments.

The minimum values of the sides of right angled triangle so as to satisfy the

Pythogorous theorem is 3, 4, 5 respectively. The value 3 corresponds to base of

triangle, the value 4 corresponds to Perpendicular side of the triangle and the

value 5 corresponds to Hypotenuse of the right-angled triangle. Less than these

values, one cannot draw a right angled triangle.

It is interesting to note that the Panchadasi mantra encodes this mathematical

concept of right-angled triangle with the minimal values of 3, 4, & 5. It is

not possible to create a right-angled triangle if we take the values less than

the above ones.

Visualise a right angle triangle. And place the 4 bijas of vakbhava kuta (Ka,

E, I, La) at the perpendicular side keeping in mind the value of 4, place the 5

bijas of Kamaraja kuta (Ha, Sa, Ka, Ha, La) at the Hypotenuse side keeping in

mind the value of 5, place the bijas of Shakti kuta (Sa, Ka, La) at the base

keeping in view of the value 3 respectively. At the three angles, 3 hrim bijas

are placed.

Thus, with Panchadasi, a right-angled triangle is formed with the central

point as the seat of Devi. And hence, she is called “TRIKONAGAAâ€.

From Ajna Chakra to Sahasrara, this same right-angled triangle is mentally

visualized with the measurements of the sides in the ratio of 3:4:5. This

triangle would have the sides as 6 inches, 8 inches and 10 inches respectively

(satisfies the 3:4:5 ratio). Thus, 6+8+10 becomes 24 which is the Gayatri

Mantra.

So, this Right-Angled Triangle also represents the Panchadasi as well as

Gayatri Mantra which has to be visualized from Ajna Chakra to Sahasrara. This

Right-Angled Triangle exactly fits into the Semi-Circle with the Diameter as

Hypotenuse. The shape of the moon on 8th day of the lunar fortnight is a

semi-circle. And hence, this has to be visualized in the nama “ASHTAMI

CHANDRA VIBHRAJATH ALIKASTHALA SHOBHITHAâ€.

The first three names of sahasranama encodes the Sodasi mantra. From Srimata

and Srimaharajni, the Bija ‘Sri†is picked up. From Srimatsimhaasaneswari,

“sa†and “ha†are picked from “simhasaneshwariâ€. In Ya-varga,

“sa†and “ha†hold 7th and 8th positions respectively. So, 7+8 is 15.

This is Panchadasi. “Srim†is added to it, and it becomes Shodasi. This

Shodasi is the seat (asana) and she is the queen or controller of this mantra

(Ishwari). It’s origin or abidance is explained in the next name.

“chidagnikunda sambhuta†implies that this Devi of Shodasi mantra sports in

Dahara or Chidakasa that shines as Chit.

regds,

Sriram
