dhyAna for lakShmI nR^isiMha sahasranAma - Probably from nR^isiMha

purANa.

Interesting features of nR^isiMha in teh above dhyAna.

He is 3 eyed. Holds chakra and pinAka along with abhaya and varada

mudras

AnAbherbrahmaNo rUpaM, AgalAdvaiShNavaM vapuH,

AshIrShAdrudraM,IshAnaM-tadagre, sarvatashshivaM. - 86(?) of

nR^isiMha

sahasranAma.

Praises nR^isiMha as being composed of the bodies of brahma(till

navel), of viShNu(till throat) and of rudra(head)

and beyond that as being IshAna and as of the form of shiva

everywhere. - Not sure of the accuracy of my translation here.

shrI-nIlakaNTha karunArnava sAmarAja

vahnIndu tIvra kara netra pinAkapANe

shItAMshu sekhara rameshvara pAhi viShNo.

One who is of man-lion form, sole care-taker of jagat.h, one with

blue throat,

ocean of compassion, one fond(or king of or presides over**) of

sAmaveda, having the sun, moon and agni as

three eyes, who holds the pinAka bow, and having the moon as crown,

lord of ramA(lakShmI),

protect us viShNu.

From mantra mahodadhi

lakShmI chAru kucha dvandva kuMkumA~Nkita vakShase

namo nR^isiMha nAthAya sarva ma~Ngala mUrtaye.

Notice how nR^isiMha holding shiva's bow pinAka is a recurring

feature across a variety of works in

addition to being blue throated, three eyed and having the moon as

crown.

nR^isiMha being the essence of viShNu, the vaiShNava features are not

particularly discussed.

Additionally, the fortnightly pradosham is auspicious to Nrsimha, too, and

abhishekam is performed reciting the ShriRudram. A Shrivaishnava Nrsimhopasaka

known to me would give bhasmam as prasadam, all the while reciting " Shiva,

Shiva " , a word that Shrivaishnavites normally cringe on hearing. The Karteeka

masa is also auspicious to Nrsimha.
