Guest guest
Pranams, I understand that solar eclipse is to take place on 1st August 2008. I would like to know from elders and seniors as to what Srividya upasaks should do and should not do before and during eclipse, both from vedic and tantric points of view. I would be very glad to receive inputs from everyone, especially from Sri Satish and Sri Sriram with regards narayan
Guest guest
Dear narayan, You can do the japa of all the mantras in which you have been initiated in. If you are not, Gayatri Mahamantra is more than enough. However, this Gayatri Mahamantra should not be done as a part of Nitya Sandhyavandana. The sankalpa is different which runs as follows: " ......ketu grastha ravi paraastha samaye mantra viryatha sidhyartham yatha sakthi Gayatri Mahamantra / Chandi / Panchadasi (whatever mantras) Japam Karishye.... " should be the sankalpa. Perform anga / kara nyasa. Perform the japa. And soon as grahana time is over, perform head bath. This is my advice. You can also consult advanced upasakas regarding this. Guest guest
Dear Sriram What is the significance of the eclipse? What happens during the eclipse that makes it most suited for manthra japa? and why only japa is specifically advised during this period? why not something else? for example - a visthaara pooja( navAvarNa etc).Any visesha phala for eclispses happening on fridays? This is probably one " period " that is appropriate for all the Gods; one is advised to do japa of any manthra that one is initiated into, irrespective of the Godform, unlike the various functions which are uchitha day/samaya for only that particular God. Hence this question. I understand that the eclipse happens in India between 4 and 6.15. praNAms Gopi ________ Not happy with your email address?. Guest guest
Dear gopi, As per jyothishya sastra, Rahu is Mantra karaka and Ketu is Mantra Siddhi Karaka. So, during the eclipse, these two grahas are powerful and hence Mantra Anushtana yield quick results in the form of Mantra Siddhi. Mantra when not chanted during eclipse becomes dead (mritha). The second reason is : During the eclipse, Ida and Pingala Nadis that are the symbolic representations of Sun and Moon are united as one at Muladhara. So during the eclipse only Sushumna Nadi shines apart that pave the way for Kundalini rising upwards at Sahasrara. During the eclipse, there is no obstruction for Kundalini Shakti and hence mantra japa yields quick results. Sun and Moon are the Jagat Chakshus. When these two disappear under the influence of eclipse, the SUTAKA has to be observed by the people and hence head bath is advised. How can we perform Navavarana Archana and other pujas during SUTAKA? Hope I am clear With regards, Sriram , Gopi <antarurjas wrote: > > Dear Sriram > > What is the significance of the eclipse? Guest guest
Not sure this has been asked: northern america is not to be affected by this eclipse.. Are the concerned people who live there still bound by these regulations? thanks, -gopal --- On Thu, 7/31/08, sriram <sriram_sapthasathi wrote: sriram <sriram_sapthasathi Re: eclipse on 1st August 2008 @sriram ji Thursday, July 31, 2008, 12:31 AM Dear aravind, Because of the sutaka, the potency of the mantra diminishes. And hence sankalpa is " mantra viryatva siddhyarthe jape viniyogah " . Even if you do the purascharana on other days, you have to do the japa on eclipse day otherwise the mantra becomes impotent (lack of mantra siddhi) sriram @ .com, aravindan viswanathan <the_thornbird_ 16 wrote: > > Dear Sir, > Â > Thank for your informative mail on the importance of japa. > Â > Please forgive my ignorance,I have query...you had mentioned that when mantra not chanted during eclipse is dead.what does that mean? > Â > please be kind enough to explain it .Once again please do forgive my ignorance. > Â > Regards > > --- On Wed, 30/7/08, sriram <sriram_sapthasathi wrote: > > sriram <sriram_sapthasathi > Re: eclipse on 1st August 2008 > @ .com > Wednesday, 30 July, 2008, 12:46 PM > > > > > > > Dear gopi, > > As per jyothishya sastra, Rahu is Mantra karaka and Ketu is Mantra > Siddhi Karaka.
