Guest guest
Dear kamesh, This gurupaduka stotra is the stotra which is being chanted very reverentially by Sringeri Acharyas. This stotra alongwith Anandalahari Stavah, Atmavidya Vilasam always dances at the tip of the tongue of our current acharya Shri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamigal. This was the composed by 33rd acharya of Sringeri Paramapujya Shri Satchidanda Sivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Mahaswamigal on His gurunatha Paramapujya Vriddha Nrisimha Bharati Mahaswamigal. It needs special mention that Shri Satchidananda Nrisimha Bharati was amsa (kalaa) avatara of Medha Dakshinamurthy. His father Shri Rama Sastry performed Dakshinamurthy Upasana everyday. A great work on tarka sastra by the name " Satakoti " is accredited to Shri Rama Sastry (father of swamigal). And hence he is called Satakoti Rama Sastry. This book is very devotedly being studied by the acharyas of Sringeri till date. One night, Shri Rama Sastry had a dream in which Dakshinamurthy appeared and said that he would be blessed with a boy who would bear the His (Dakshinamurthy's) kala. He was also considered to be the avatara of Shri Adi Sankara Bhagavatpada. Bhagavan Ramana Maharishi always used to extol Sivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Swamigal (the 33rd acharya of Sringeri) saying that if there is a scholar who has absorbed the Sankara Advaita and abides in that state of Brahmanubhava, it is Shri Sivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Swamigal. Whenever any scholar visits from Sringeri to Tiruvannamalai, Bhagavan used to enquire about the health of swamigal. And vice versa. Shri Swamigal had the idea of making Bhagavan, a pithadhipati of Sringeri but the ways of Supreme Being are quite different. One of the ashottara nama of Bhagavan reads " Sringaadri mutthadhisa bhaavithaaya namah " ie., " one who is respected by Sringeri Acharya " . He is none other than the 33rd acharya Shri Satchidananda Sivaabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Swamigal. " satchidananda sivabhinavaya nrisimhabharatyabhidhaanyatindraan Vidyanidhin mantranidhin sadAtmanishthaan Bhaje manavasambhu rupaan " The translation runs like this: Shiva in human form, ever immersed in the Atman, Treasure of learning, treasure of mantric lore Verily He is the King among Sages, Hail Sacchidananda Shiva Abhinava Nrisimha Bharati With regards, sriram , KAMESWARARAO MULA <kamesh_ccmb wrote: > > > Guru Paduka Stotram > > > 1. Guest guest
Dear sudarshan, There are 3 versions. Among them, two of them were by Viswanatha Sarma and other is by Jagadeesa Sastry. Viswanatha Sarma mentions is his work. He studied Sutra Bhashya at Sringeri and was a great scholar of advaita. Later on he shifted his stay to Tiruvannamalai and wrote a book " Maha Yoga " . Guest guest
Dear sudarshan, There is a small correction in my earlier post. Actually, the ashtottara nama composed by Shri Jagadeesa Sastrigal has the name " sringAdri muttadhisa bhAvitAya Namah " . It forms the 8th name. The ashtottara starts with SrisonaparvatAdhisah..... " . The Ramana Ashram of Tiruvannamalai has published " Ramana Puja Kalpah " which has this ashtottara nama. He was the person to compose Ramana Sahasranama which is used for the daily worship at the samadhi of Bhagavan.
