Dear members,

Jagatguru Suka Brahman who belongs to the son of illustrious Veda Vyasa was an

avadhuta who used to be in divine ecstasy. It is said that Bhagavan Suka even

surpassed his father in spiritual achievements.

It is said that there are two (2) Suka Brahmans but both are the sons of

Bhagavan Veda Vyasa.

The first Suka, a great Avadhuta, was in his childhood initiated into the

secrets of mahavakya “Tat Tvam Asi†by none other than Lord Siva. The

moment he was initiated in the Mahavakya, Bhagavan Suka experienced the

sarvAtmana bhava and had the vision of omnipresent Brahman everywhere. Thus

dancing in ecstasy, immersed in his atma swarupa, merged himself along with his

physical body and disappeared into nothingness at Naimisharanya.

Bhagavan Veda Vyasa, out of his love towards his son, beget another Suka

Brahman who has the face of Parrot. To this second Son, Bhagavan Veda Vyasa

initiates into Srimad Bhagavta Mahapurana. The same Suka initiates the

Bhagavata Purana to the King Parikshit, the Grandson of Lord Krishna.

Now, Suka is symbolically portrayed as having the face of Parrot. There is a

secret behind this.

Generally, parrots do not touch and taste the fruit unless the fruit is ripe,

juicy and delicious. We generally see the ripe guavas under the tree that are

partly bitten by Parrots. If we taste this fruit, it is very juicy and

delicious.

In the similar fashion, SRIMAD BHAGAVATHA MAHAPURANA is a JUICY, DELICIOUS AND

RIPE FRUIT THAT HAS COME FROM THE DIVINE LIPS OF BHAGAVAN SUKA. In order to

symbolically represent “how delicious, ripe and juicy this Purana isâ€,

Bhagavan Suka is depicted with the face of Parrot (Suka).

Whoever tastes this Divine Fruit “SRIMAD BHAGAVATA†enjoys the divine

ecstasy of Liberation from this cycle of birth and death.

With regards,

Sriram
